Context: I’m an L2 working in paid search with ~3 years of experience, the role above mine (L4, requires 5-7 years of paid search experience) has been vacant for 7+ months. Is SEO a lost game for a startup? I read a new perspective arguing that for SMEs, competing on SEO is a long and constant fight against the algorithm. Bigger companies have the specialists and budget to undertake the challenges but for new companies, it is much harder. I also read that content marketing should focus more on thought leadership and creating a community of followers.

How is the PPC/digital advertising department structured in your oganization? Paid social ads and google ads, for example, are under the same manager? Or is the split by KPIs, like awareness vs performance?

Is anyone currently in a low stress, decent paying role (75k-100k), where deliverables don’t have fast turnarounds and the company has great WLB? I value time/activities outside of work more than being a high performer.

I still want to do my job but I also don’t want to feel like my job is my entire life. I’m finding that most digital marketers are overworked these days and the workload in the industry is zapping out my joy for marketing.
