Anyone else feel like the hardest part of b4 first year is resisting the urge to quit because of awful project you had no control over? I know there’s opportunities later, just hard to be patient
Risk consulting 🐠, what do you think about the FRM certification? For those that have it, has it helped you on project work and do clients look at it favorably?
Will I get fired because I made a mistake - I forgot to double check with the client that he had to do something and now it’s too late
In this project where my managers want the deliverable document to be reviewed N number of times by my counterparts before being sent to them for review. Basically the cycle is....
My client just showed me the edits she made to my 90 tab financial model and it took her 20 hours something that I could have done in 30 min. She also hard coded it things and f'ed it all up #awesome
Starting a project next week after a long holiday break, I need to learn how to be a working professional again 😂
I just left the ad world and living a more peaceful life. With that said I’m bored. Any agency gossip? Who’s sleeping with whom? What client did you lose? Etc.
I feel hopeless on my project and I cry regularly as soon as I hang up at least one call a day. (Woo work from home!)
People who work 50, 60, 70+ hours a week: how do you do that without putting your project over budget? Are your engagements written to have a resource work over 40+hours a week? Are you spending over 10-30 hours a week on added non billable time? What are y’all doing with all of that time?!
I'm trying to buy a new carry-on size suitcase but am having trouble finding one that fits my requirements. Does anybody know a four wheel spinner bag that's: 1: decent quality build, particularly wheels and handle 2: has a lid that opens and one large compartment (soft or hardside but I don't like the two half clamshell hardsides) 3: looks decent (doesn't have to be fancy/designer, just something I'm not embarrassed to take to a client office) 4: under ~$300
Thinking about making a lateral move in the next few months and interested in LEK. Any insights on project variety, WLB and overall culture? TIA. LEK Consulting
What is director round in PWC ? Is this technical round or Project related questions only ? Help please
I’m new to consulting. Spent my entire career in industry where I worked on a closely knit team. My work style is to befriend my coworkers not only because I like to work with my friends, but also so I don’t feel bad when I call them on their sh** for not pulling their weight. I am the fulcrum and counterweight combined. I now find myself being taken advantage of and am too uncomfortable to confront slackers on an 18mo project. How do I find balance?
Any tips on selling fun/silly/zany ideas? Is there a particular way to set it up so your internal team/client is more reciprocal to the idea?
Big project, 2 SMs, the other SM is such so insecure that it’s hilarious. Tried to get me rolled off by bad mouthing me. Some real petty house of cards stuff everyday with this person. PPMDs, advice?
Had an important Steerco meeting with the client and I presented some slides very smoothly and got great feedback. Right after, went to go introduce myself to a cute girl who works for the client and
Started out hating Zoom depos. Kind of like them now. In hour two of a co-defendant’s examination, which is entirely irrelevant to my client, and I’ve clipped my nails, stretched fully, planned a hike for the weekend, ordered my home goods off Amazon, and it’s all billable time because I’m stuck on this thing.
Hi! For the folks who have recently took the SHRM-CP exam this year, how would you describe the test and any tips you can provide would be helpful!
I started in January and I already feel that this job is having a strain on my relationship. I’m still working weekends after busy season and my s/o is upset I barely spend time with them. The rest of my team is constantly working so I feel bad if I set my boundaries and take time off.
Anyone else feel that exit ops aren't really that great out of consulting as the perception actually is? Maybe not for big 4 at least? I can't get shit anywhere and feel pretty worthless in the market
I’m going to start doing read alouds on Zoom for the students. Any recommendations for upper elemetary? Maybe something uplifting to help battle the anxiety they might be feeling?
I have always dreamt of living abroad. A few years in Europe, and then APAC. Transfer plans fell through with covid, and I’m pretty sure they will be delayed due to Delta. Turning 25 this month and feel like that dream is getting farther away. I’ve always been ambitious, but as I’m getting older I’ve realized traveling and exploring other cultures is what truly makes me happy and that’s what I want to use my career in tech to fund. I know this is a first world problem, but has anyone done this?
Assuming the firm pays for bschool tuition, how much should I have saved to travel without having to worry about running out of money in school?? Looking at a top 5 program
For anyone at alight, I just got an interview survey feedback. Is that bad to receive it early ?
Got an informal offer to join a client (manufacturing company). 240k base, 60k cash bonus target (can shrink or double depending on company metrics) + 50k annual equity (3 yr rolling vesting). Director level which has just one additional layer between me and the Exec Committee. My contact already internal negotiated extra vacation and is working on my behalf for a signing bonus. Is it worth trying to negotiate base? Or is this already a strong offer?
RSM is starting compensation conversations. What’s everybody out there making. Want to see how we stack against the market, but think we’re looking better than Big Four. COL - LCOL/MCOL/HCOL Service line - Tax, Audit, etc Position - old & new Current Salary New Salary Bonus
How is cognizant Salesforce practice for experienced hire? Is work culture good enough? How is job security?
Hey Fishies I accepted an offer from PwC SDC. Can anyone throw some light on what kind of a shift in work culture I'll expect? Currently working in EY India. YoE 6 and tech stack Microsoft based.
For those of you who spent the time and money to get the PHR or SHRM certifications, do you feel that it actually strengthened your professional capabilities as on HR professional, or did you just do it to fit into the “HR Professional” crowd?
Leaving soon for brand management role in CPG which I’m really excited about but curious if this will close the door to opportunities (product marketing, non technical product manager) in tech in the future. Really interested in the brand management role but if I end up not liking it the comp trajectory is not nearly as good as tech and wanted to know if that door will still be open. 2YOE, if I make a switch would likely be at 4-5YOE assuming I don’t go MBA route
Can someone please refer my sister, Zahra, to your consulting company? She majored in BioChem in undergrad, has built a rocket payload for NASA, published 2 scientific papers at U of Michigan, interned at John’s Hopkins, was on Glamour Magazine’s 2018 College Women of the Year, and runs marathons for different medical causes. She would be an experienced hire since she graduated college 2 years ago. Zahra is super smart and would be a great addition to any team! Please DM me if you can help.
Any tips on negotiating comp and start date? I have an offer from a small investment fund. It seems on the low but reasonable end, but I’d like to negotiate a little. However, I don’t want to damage the relationship either since I’d be negotiating directly with the partners (who would be my bosses), as there is no HR because it’s so small. Any thoughts?
I’m burnt out. Biglaw six years and got pushed out. Now at a midsize firm. I work more than I used to and getting paid 1/3 less. Work is not bad at all and the firm culture is great. I never wanted to become a lawyer to start with but now I’m stuck here. If I switch to a completely new profession, I would have to start over. My hubby’s financials are not great and I feel I’m obligated to stay at my firm job to make it work. I really don’t know what to do...
Used an excuse Monday for one interview and have another on Friday but feel like I’d be super shady to come up with another “my pipes burst” thing. Do I just take a personal day or other suggestions?
Desi Parents - How do you guys make new born babies sleep without a cradle? I'm tired of rocking my baby in hand. Any suggestions to avoid sleepless nights? Any suggestions on Indian style cradles?
