Not much insight here. I’ve been on the opposite side of a couple of their real estate guys in New Jersey. Older guys who seemed like good competent practitioners. Their client was developing a high end independent living community next to my client’s property. They drafted fairly well and were good issues spotters. Their client seemed knowledgeable but maybe a little less institutional and sophisticated than you’d perhaps expect. More like an old school developer type than an institutional client.
That’s all I’ve got for you.
The work life balance is okay for some. However if you want to get ahead there, you are working as much as other places. Their goal is 1900 hours. You can get still a bonus if you don’t hit that under some circumstances. They have been increasing associate salaries to be more competitive, but the associate salaries are still lower than BigLaw but higher than smaller firms. Partner compensation tends to be lower than other similar firms. The client base really depends on the practice area. Not a lot of institutional clients. A lot of departures over the past couple of years going from almost 400 lawyers a couple of years ago to less than 300 lawyers.
Not until April or May of the following year for associates.
