Does anyone know the difference between the bandouliere and the normal speedy? Also have my eye on the Alma in Epi Leather but above my price point

3C hair type here - Unfortunately I spent most of the recent winter months straightening my hair. Partly because of the convenience of it but also partly because of the cold and with my natural hair I have to wet it every morning. ANYWAY I’m paying for it now, my curls (especially in the front) got severely heat damaged and I’ve spent the last couple weeks in quarantine doing a lot of hair masks and even did a big chop...
That being said I’m just an idiot and didn’t use much heat protectant or hair lotion a few times so that’s tip 1 - use that stuff! And tip 2 is just don’t overdo it with the heat and it’s completely fine to straighten your hair every once in a while.
Agree with BA1. You must find a good heat protectant.
My hair 3C in the front and 4A/B in the crown and back. I use the heat protectant from Sally’s the Ion brand (grey bottle). I only flat iron my hair once a week, wrap it/silk pillow at night, and I only touch up the places that don’t lay right. By Thurs/Fri of the week I start wearing a bun/low ponytail because it needs to be touched up with the flat iron too much.
I haven’t had any heat damage so far. You know the tried and true that you have to keep your hair moisturized so that helps a lot to prevent damage. Plus the heat protectant. I’m a big fan is Shea Moisturizer products and my hair has been rejuvenated using their products. Good luck on your hair (never ending lol) journey!
I would like to wear my hair straighter more often.. but my hair doesn’t last and it’s not worth the hassle sometimes. I have type 4 hair and once I get in a humid setting it’s over.
Thanks! I used this when I was relaxed and liked it. I’ll buy some next week
My hair is 3c/4a and I wear it straight October-May. I have heat damage but the hair itself isn’t damaged. It doesn’t matter to me because in the summer months, I just do twists outs with rods on the ends. Looks basically how it would if it wasn’t heat damaged.
I used to wear my hair curly younger then in my mid 20s every other week press (sometime a press and curl) at the shop up until about 4 years ago then I started more protective styles. I will say that the product is important and if you can straighten less frequently that will help. I would likely add heat to my hair everyday or other day but usually to edge from heat/sweat/working out, but again heat protection products helped alot. With almost 10 years of every other week my curl pattern hadnt/hasn't been affected. I haven't put heat on my hair in at least two years and I thought it would make a difference /change my curl pattern and it hasnt still the same.
100% prefer to wear my hair straight. Low maintenance, people don't wanna touch your hair or comment on it every 5 seconds 🙄. But I ruined my curl pattern (2C). I really miss it.
Wigs done well can be a great way to preserve your curls while changing your style up often!
Have you tried texlaxing? I did it once and you can use roller sets and stretching your hair to keep it straight. There are lots of good YouTube channels on how to keep healthy relaxed/texlaxed hair. Kibibbi is one of my favs
Ive been straightening my hair since end of sept -end of March and i have a little heat damage in the from right. I’m giving it a break
I've worn my hair straight almost entirely for the past three years...but since quarantine have been back to curly. Took about 2.5 weeks..but I'm back to the initial 4A curls everywhere accept on one small section toward the end ...and I think a trim of the split ends when I can finally visit my hair person will likely fix that!
