Genuinely curious - what help or accommodations are you looking for?
Chief
I'm curious too. Are you suggesting that they should cover having someone stay with you for safety reasons?
No but my coworker does and has never had issues. Are you new to work travel?

OP, is this diagnosis recent or have you known your whole life?
Been type 1 almost my whole life , curious as well to see the comments on this
I guess I’m just not really sure how they accommodate? I’d say anyone who has severe allergies / carries an epipen would be in a similar spot with needing immediate assistance.

I’m not sure why you’d expect your employer to “accommodate” you? Have you discussed your condition with your doctor? What do they say about making sure you can take care of yourself? I have 2 friends who are type 1 diabetics. Both wear medical ID bracelets identifying them as diabetic. It’s not really reasonable to expect co-workers to do anything besides calling 911 if you have a medical crisis. One hopes most people are smart enough to do that anyway.

C1 ?
I have had Type 1 diabetes for over forty years. Navigant/Guidehouse didn’t ask when they hired me. But I didn’t offer either. We seem to have developed a mutual understanding. Their health insurance pays literally thousands of dollars annually for insulin pump and continuous blood glucose monitoring supplies. I use those supplies and take care of myself. Full stop.
G1: Whats so special about it? Aren’t you paying hefty monthly premium for the health insurance?
That’s exactly the point. Not special at all. One of the guys. Thank goodness!
