Anyone wonder why wealthy Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE are not taking in Muslim refugees?

Banning burqas etc is wrong in my opinion. But you look at Muslim communities in Britain and Spain where the former is riddled with genetic disorders because of so much cousin marriages. The latter hosts some of the biggest drug operations in Europe thanks to Pakistanis in Barcelona and Madrid.

Because the value prop is terrible. Look how things turned out for Pakistan. I think they have one of the largest refugee populations/migrations of all time.

I think that western countries feel morally inclined to do so. They also have platforms for integration of said people.

I don't necessarily agree with integration policies in Europe. But certain groups of Muslim populations are really screwing themselves by not integrating in Europe. Literally.

@Accenture 2 - Would you agree or disagree that many Muslims (not all) are not eager to integrate into adopted society?

A2: the number if refugees taken in by Jordan and Turkey is in public domain. Look up! Do some research.

And yes, integration into a new country takes time. The European (Western) are democracies and hence have better mechanisms of integration and have democratic laws unlike the GCC (I refuse to use the term Muslim countries)

3. Yes, Western (NATO) countries have the biggest moral responsibility to rehabilitate refugees coz they were the ones who destroyed Iraq, Syria, and then bombed Libya. They are apathetic to rohingya as there has not been a single sanction against Burma

So why is the onus then on the western countries to take in more refugees?

CSC1- could you elaborate? What’re the policies?

Just cuz the media doesn't report it doesn't mean Muslim countries don't take in refugees. To date the largest Burmese refugee population is in Makkah. Jordan has taken in so many Syrians and Palestinians. Western countries don't wanna play the part cuz they wanna protect their majority population. You bring enough refugees and you become a minority in your own country. Gulf countries on the other hand treat allot of the refugees like crap compared to Western Nations. I.e unable to become a naturalized citizen ever etc etc. Their is problems on each side

Is is your statement that Muslim countries have taken in more Muslim refugees than western countries - please elaborate and provide facts.

I don't know if citizenship is the only problem. I mean why is Bangladesh, one of the poorest countries in the world today doing its most to absorb the refugees in. What is the Arab world doing. I mean the Saudi Arabia doesn't even taken in Palestinian refugees.

OP: the countries hardest hit by refugees are the neighbors. Hence you are people fleeing Libya to turkey/Italy and Burmese fleeing to Bangladesh coz it's closest. Logic!

To be fair, there are a lot of other factors at play. Governments of majority-Muslim countries work a lot differently than American society. Bangladeshi politician(s) might be more inclined to bring in refugees without considering the economic or social consequences. Whereas in the US and other Western countries there are many more hoops to jump through. Saudi Arabia in this case 1. Already has a decently big unemployed community 2. They don't want to disrupt the current operating environment of their version of Islam (however MBS is changing that).

@Deloitte 1 What do you mean western countries destroyed Iraq, Libya, and Syria. To be fair, these places were FUBAR and still are prior to western diplomacy and military actions

MBS is not interested in Islam. I'm sorry this is how they sell their policies to the Saudi ppl under the name of Islam. They are only interested in protecting their seat.

@Accenture After this long of tight control with Saudi Arabia's version of Islam. Perhaps MBS is what the ME needs

So what we are saying is - the WEALTHY Arab countries don't want to take in Muslim refugees.

@D1 what is the moral responsibility of OIC nations with the rohingyas? What exactly are they doing?

SO has sharp pain from the slightest arousal, anything more than holding hands has progressively gone off the table. Any attempts of passing that threshold usually lead to pain that causes stopping, and some frustration from both sides. She tried physical therapy but it didn’t seem to help.

How do we handle this? Going on almost 2 years of this getting slowly and progressively worse, and feels like it’s starting to cause some strain.

For people who are AWS SAA certified, what is a good reading resource (book) that I can rely on, instead of on online course like Udemy. I somehow feel good only after reading some material than listening to the classes. Has anyone passed the exam just by reading and practicing, without watching any videos?

Anyone part of the restructuring group at the big 4, need advice on the selection/interview process for someone not currently in the big 4.

My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

I studied computer science in school but I didn’t do well due to life coming in the way. I got poor grades but ultimately finished my degree without any internship experience.

After three months of job search, I started for 45K at a construction company as a Jr App Support. After a year I shifted in to QA for 65k and now after a year of QA, I have finally gotten a position as a software engineer for 78K base.

The imposter syndrome is finally gone!

Hang in there, hard work pays off.

What are your go to souvenirs to bring back from India for friends/family in the US ?

I had two interviews with two people at different companies and each time the interviewer had their camera off stating that they are having connection issues. Is that acceptable for candidates to do?

Just got let go and my manager said part of it was because I was looking for other jobs. I didn't look for other jobs at work, so I'm not sure how they could have known that unless a coworker snitched on me. Is it worth it to try and find out who or should I just leave it? Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.

Anyone have any book recommendations on Islamic history?

I’m looking for something beginning from the first prophet (pre Islam I guess?) to full revelation. Looking to get a timeline understanding. So I guess some Jewish and Christian stuff would be in there too.

It’s scary how little I know

There’s no excuse that by the age of 25 you have never tried therapy. I’m speaking directly to the demographic in this group who I’m sure over 95% of people in here are earning 6 figures. Key word: TRY. I understand it’s not for everyone but to have never even attempted seeking therapy is a injustice to yourself and the people around you.

I hate movies that always have terrorist shown as muslim, like no other fucking race or religion is involved in any of this BS. I'm personally boycotting such movies as they exploit Islam and feed on people's fear, just like terrorists do. Your thoughts?

Anyone else unable to fast due to genuine medical limitations? How do you handle it?

Are you up front about it with others, or do you just pretend like you're fasting as well to save face?

From the outside, I look young, healthy/able which is why I feel the shame.

I know we shouldn't care about what others think, and that Allah knows what's in my heart, but I still can't help but to feel shame.

What if he believes in God but does not identify with any religion. He comes from a Christian family but he is not Christian and his belief in God is strictly monotheistic (no trinity, etc).
