Take a pay cut for less hours, or a pay raise for less hours. This isn't a decision OP
PwC2, I'm biting the bullet for a couple of years, so that o get more time with my kids while they are so young. I'll be back to FT in a few.
If you're a senior, I can't see a big impact. It can have negative consequences at the senior manager when you're trying to develop your book of business. Depends on how long you want the flexible arrangement
It slows your progression. If you're just wanting to do it for 6 years and then plan to ramp back up it could work well.
Yeah it might be best to leave. Leave on good terms and come back later if it tickles your fancy.
Love my reduced schedule. I work 3 days a week, get to actually see my small kids! Can work from home too. What other non-PA firm lets you do that? I'll probably bump it back to 4/5 days once both kids are in school.
But you actually see a reduction in work? Are they always trying to give you more?
And what level are you pwc1?
I'm an experienced senior. My peers in another group made manager already. But I took very long maternity leaves both times (6+ months) so I was basically out for a year comparing to them. Also, my group respects my schedule but I know it may not work in another group. You have to have people above supporting you and your goals.
I didn't want to leave PwC because of flexibility (p/t, working from home), great benefits (4 weeks vacation in industry? No way!) and good balance of challenging work w/o killing myself and not being able to have a life.
I just want to work 5 8-hour days a week. Is there a reduced work schedule where I just work 40 hours a week other than Jan-Feb?
@pwc1 what is the impact on your salary?
I work 60%=I get paid 60%
Ooh so envious! Wish I could financially follow suit
