Hi, My joining is on 12th December. When can I expect Onboarding details mail and stuff?
I have been told that it arrives two days before joining.
I have to relocate to join and have been told by the team that travel desk will contact and arrange for that.
Kindly provide info on this.
Thanks in advance!

I thought my firm was cheap but at least they gave me a wired mouse. It amazes me that firms bill clients $$$ and provide associates with the cheapest keyboard and mouse for 12 hour work days. I bought better ones myself.

I used to. Associates only got desktops with tiny screens.
Partners lost their minds every time they called for work while on vacation. “Sorry, I don’t have a computer with me. How dare you not bring your laptop on vacation? What laptop, you cheapskates gave me a desktop, said laptops were only for partners”

You would think. But those partners would call day after day, expecting the situation to just change, and I would magically return to the office to do their non-billable work. I used to work there. Now I know better. Mandated time off without access to firm systems or I don’t do law.
Yes. I wanted a water cooler that cost like 150 dollars and maybe 20 bucks for a new water jug every few months. Was told no, but the other office has a kegerator and super expensive coffee.

Congress has to keep those budgets lean and maintain brain drain, otherwise the DOJ might pose a threat to them

I would just get a partner to agree to reimburse for office essentials that are necessary to perform job functions and go buy it
Hoping this associate at least has a laptop? A wired mouse is like six bucks on Amazon.

It’s one of those surface tablets with the little trackpad that absolutely sucks.
I used to work in a firm where the managing partner of the office I was working in completely lost it when the head office mandated no more free sparkling water in all offices and no business class flights for anything below 5 hours.
And you guessed it, they did redundancy of secretaries before sparkling water. Law firms are just incredible.
How do you all feel about vending machines in the office kitchen (and no other snacks)?

Bleak. Might as well work at the dmv.
