Fish I’ve about had enough. I’ve been unemployed for months. I don’t have a lot of mental energy to keep on going through the process. I have a few prospects but I’m terrified that even getting another job won’t work out well for me. I had a mental breakdown or two last couple of years and led to me getting laid off. What do you all do when you've just had it with your career? I'm BEYOND burnt out, never see my family, haven't had time to pursue any personal interests outside of work, feel like crap. I'm ready to throw in the towel.

My confession is that I have seen the medical field change so much over the past 20 years, that it's unrecognizable in both good and bad ways. More people are leaving than staying, and I am worried the quality of care is dwindling. I try not to burden friends and family with some of the things I've seen recently, but the short version is that I'm no longer sure I have faith or trust in it myself.

The lack of skills fundamental to life is absolutely astounding. I think we now have 3 people who will do anything to avoid reading or taking notes. To call in a supervisor to ask what they should do because they don’t have any intention of reading the document to be able to route it to the appropriate person. Then to avoid reading, they call the patient to ask if they know what the document is for.
