15 minutes before my flight boards. Keepin it breezy, headed into a three day weekend. Ask me anything.

An observation: It’s very funny how junior (especially first year) associates working in transactional law can spend an entire deal screwing up signature pages, checklists, and redlines.... and then complain that it’s BS they’re “doing administrative tasks instead of legal work.”

As a 4th year I feel like I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing and everyone around me seems to be competent and confident. Am I just terrible at my job or is everyone else just better at faking it?

Thinking of jumping ship after just 6 months in a fully remote position for an in-house, in person job where expectation is 5d/week in person. Commute would be around 90minutes/day in interstate. I have been working my tail off since coming back to work after a parental leave (which my boss was not happy or impressed about me taking) to get back in good standing. Today was my bi-annual review and the partners left me such glowing reviews it left me in tears to see that my hard work to both be there for my family and make it in my career has been noticed 😭

Normal to ask for a bonus during a mid year review? For context, I work at a small (20ish attorney) law firm in a major market. The firm said this is the first year they are doing mid year reviews for associates. I’m a first year, 9 months into the job.

I applied for a counsel position with a large local university almost two months ago. The application period closed about two weeks ago, and a friend of a friend works as a counsel in the same role.
