Share your experience regarding non traditional legal careers. My wife (a lawyer), got fired today for poor job performance related to her inability to focus as a result of ADHD/Depression. Though first time she been fired, she’s quit some firms for the same reason, in hopes of finding a better fit. Now she thinks traditional law practice isn’t right for her. has anyone had a similar experience? at all the firms i’ve worked at i’ve been belittled and talked down by attorneys. I know being a woman of color plays a role. When I speak up i’m gaslighted and told i’m wrong. I was fired from my first firm ( Champaign IL) for speaking up when my coworker told me to stop speaking Spanish because she felt uncomfortable. I went to HR, they said they can’t control what people say. I was let go for not being a “good fit”.

This may be a hot take - but as a younger person, working with parents of small kids (especially new parents) is so frustrating. I frequently find myself responsible for picking up the slack due to their family commitments - it’s also somehow completely socially acceptable for kids to barge into zoom meetings screaming. I wouldn’t find it nearly as bothersome if I felt like leadership and parent colleagues took my issues and non work commitments seriously in addition to that of parents and kids
