Going to MBB from Tier 2...worth the switch?
For MBB interviews, what is a good gauge to expect for quantitative complexity? The case study books all have cases ranging in complexity from easy to hard, but not sure if I’ll get absolutely floored by the real interview
6 YoE in digital marketing, + 2 in business + Master's (not MBA). Not super technical, but I'm a functional subject matter expert (easily top 5% in North America, probably higher) in one DM field. I want to work at MBB and now seems like a really good time to give a try. What level should I aim for? Associate? How much time should I spend practicing cases before applying? Any specific areas to make sure I upskill to check the right box? Any tips on how to make it work?
On getting into FAANG. For those who made the switch, what are the typical roles from, say, MBB? How did you go about it? What's needed on the resume if I'm planning 12 months out? Lvl and pay?
Does MBB have a strong presence in the DC area?
Fish - need help here. I used to work in the research team at McK / Bain (let’s assume one) pre-MBA. My experience here at BCG has not been great and I am looking to move to another consulting firm. The challenge is that the practice area I work in is actually stronger at the other MBB ( not the one I worked pre-MBA). How ridiculous would it be to even apply there? And if accepted, how would it be perceived - having worked at all three. 🤦🏻♂️😞 Or should I just continue at BCG or go back to old firm
Can anyone speak the the human capital practices at their firm? I'm currently in HC consulting and want to continue working in the field, but not sure what opportunities there are in MBB.
Have tier 2 M&A strategy offers on the table and interested in exploring MBB. Any fish willing to chat??
MBB in Singapore, are you still recruiting foreigners that need an EP or is it only Singaporeans/PR now and for the foreseeable future? Would be interested to apply as an experienced hire.
If you are a 32 year old Manager at consulting firm does it make sense to start as a Consultant or Associate at MBB? I am trying to understand if it makes sense to go a level down just for a more prestigious firm.
Has anyone from MBB worked at the same client where there is one of the big 4 ? How are the dynamics between the two in that engagement?
Finally got my MBB offer ☺
Is it better to wait until promo before switching to other firms? Applying to MBB but worried that if I get the offer I’ll end up switching right before I get my promo from Deloitte. I would likely reset to entry level at MBB either way but the pay would be a substantial bump from my current pay (even after promo). I’m in my second year at Deloitte out of undergrad.
MBB 🐠: I’ve got 3yrs consulting experience at IBM (agile exp.), state school for undergrad, CSM and secret clearance. Do I have a shot at associate at MBB or do I absolutely need to pursue MBA first?
If my goal is to grow in digital/ technology strategy work is it worth trying to jump to a MBB or a Diff T2 such as S&,OW ? I understand McKinsey Digital is the strongest for tech/digital work
Analytics folks at a MBB, what’s your experience been like? What level would I come in at with 8 years of experience?
Married 🐟, does this travel lifestyle help your marriage? I’m hearing some colleagues refer to the time away as “refreshing” and it gives them a chance to miss their SO. Thoughts?

I am sick and tired of a male subordinate bossing me and other team members around, acting like he owns the whole project, deliverables, me and other team members. Project Director chooses not to do anything about it. Any tips on how to deal with that asshole on a daily basis?
What would you do: in discussion with a small agency to potentially work full time. They wanted to do a 60 day engagement first to see if its a good fit. Kick the tires from both parties makes sense. They asked for my rates and gave them an hourly freelance rate to where they asked if I’d be willing to do a rate that was based off my “future” un-guaranteed employment salary, less than $100/hr, which was less than half my freelance rate. Does this sound fishy? Am I wrong to be skeptical?
Flying to Orlando for 2 days alone. Going to hit up Universal Studios and Island of Adventure with the limited express pass for one of the 2 days Any tips for food, etc.? Going to try to make it through without a rental car and only carrying a small day pack. Considering seeing some gator farms, etc., but trying to get an affordable experience given I've dropped 210 on the Universal ticket.
Fired without severance...haven’t signed anything yet. Is severance something that can be negotiated with HR? I have a call with them on Monday to discuss.
Leaving the firm for grad school in a month. Trying to get a severance package but recently got a new career counselor. Do I tell her I'm going to grad school in a month? Or keep my mouth shut until I
US Midwest Audit M1 salary?
Does staying at a job too long make you less marketable? A CFO who worked at a company for over a decade and was fired because of cut backs was hired for temp work. An accounting manager of 6 years was hired for tech support. How does this happen?
Should I be worried that my 401k YTD return is only 4.13%? Not sure how accurate that number is, if it is....pls help 🥲
Have you ever been rolled off a project suddenly? Should I be paranoid of a 4 rating or being laid off.
What are peoples opinions on work from home? It seems to be an unpopular opinion but as a junior I despise it. I work 3 feet from my bed, I find the barriers of a phone/email between me and a senior to add a huge amount of stress to my life and I think it’s stunting my career development at my firm because I can’t build relationships as effectively. I’ve never at all had mental health issues before but now am really starting to feel burnt out and anxious most of the time. What do you think?
Why is there a push to raise the Federal minimum wage? Why not leave this to each state?
Anyone ever negotiated preferred method of travel (ie biz class) into their compensation negotiations? Curious as to how this was received by mgmt
When it's Wednesday afternoon... and you're waiting for that "we'll contact you early next week" email after a potentially life changing interview ...AND EVERY SPAM EMAIL MAKES YOU WANT TO DIE.
Hi Greg - Two questions. 1.What life lessons would you give to those who want to stick to consulting in the long run? 2.Same Q but for those who want to exit + what is the optimal role to quit Thanks
