Anyone work for or currently working at a defense contractor? Northrop Grumman or Lockheed? Pros? Cons?

When I left BCG I looked at most of the major defense companies. Much lower comp and it seems to last the whole trajectory. The culture vibe was that it is more of a seniorocracy than meritocracy. People work hard but the hours are better than consulting.

Do you work at a big 4? Then you probably work for a defense contractor. Just not the practice that provides services to the DoD

The roles I’m looking at are more so internal and support the creation of physical products. So I was wondering the differences and also other things like comp, benefits, culture, etc

Ah gotcha. Don’t have much data there. Boeing is big in my area and they’re known for having good benefits, but it’s hard to move up the corporate ladder

I worked at Sikorsky as an intern (now the rotary arm of Lockheed) in business development. I think it depends on the business unit of somewhere like Lockheed but my experience was very dull work, comp was bad (future looking) and culture was just a bunch of old engineers. Engineers are the ones that make the big $ and respected most, also, the government is your client soooo

If anyone wants to join a boutique HR & Talent Advisory consulting firm, Kincentric is hiring for an Associate Partner role! Location doesn’t really matter, but preferably in IL, NY, or ATL.
