Hi people! I am entering the very final step of an hiring process in a Capital Venture Company and my chances to get an offer seem solid. I passed through a recruiter and we spoke about salary expectations very early on. He told me that 110k for this specific role would be the max. He put me in touch with another startup where the range is higher (120k) but I have a preference for the VC company w/ lower compensation. Do you think there is room for negotiating higher than 110k?

Is it with everyone or only me that I have not got even a single reply for around 30-40 jobs applied on LinkedIn?

1st year associate (NY) thinking about lateraling into a large insurance defense firm from Municipal work/L&E, pay jump 75 to 125 and hybrid as opposed to fully in office. Basically is the pay jump/hybrid worth giving up current practice area to ID? If it turns out I hate ID, thoughts on leveraging the litigation experience and substantive knowledge of L&E to then lateral again within 2 years?

Has anyone taken a 1 year (or more) hiatus from the practice of law to travel, figure out what you really want to do, etc.? Was the time off helpful? Did you find it difficult to re-enter the profession when you returned? I've been practicing law for 3 years and want to look for non-firm options in the legal profession, but I know I need time to figure out what I want to do. I had a disbarred attroney interview for a assistant position. The conduct was effectively she had emotional issues, abandoned her clients and then was disbarred.

I'm a 3rd-year corporate transactional attorney with a private firm. Around 50 attorneys, which is as big as it gets for the state I'm in. I've become disillusioned with the partnership track career path fairly quickly and don't think it's for me. Before taking a large pivot and leaving the law entirety, I've thought about going in-house.
(1) Are there any downsides to going in-house too early?
(2) Would it make it more difficult to go back to private practice if I don't like that experience?

Have you ever had another attorney mark up your drafts to where the entire document is basically rewritten, and all of the changes were stylistic and not substantive? I am a third year. A 6th year attorney did this to me. It was a simple ancillary document of which I have drafted plenty of before. I almost want to bring it up to someone but I don’t want to seem whiny but I’m angry? This isn’t the first time Ive felt disrespected by this person and I don’t feel comfortable going to them directly
