Moving from a boutique (<30 employees, MBB competitor) to the strategy practice of a Big 4. Have only worked for boutiques in the past, so I’m expecting there to be some major differences in terms of working style. What are the major differences and ‘watch outs’ you would point out to me? Could be anything from culture, to red tape, to compliance etc.
Can I ask what is the relocation bonus for Big 4 and Accenture for new grads, if there is any? Also, what’s the typical signing bonus for new grads?
Is it too late to start CPA after I left Big 4? I didn’t do it while I was at the firm and now already 4 years after my graduation.
How is quality of life different of an MBB partner and a B4 partner. Is it really still a grind at MBB at that level? I have never seen a stressed MBB partner so not sure if it’s just a facade.
Is it weird that minutes after getting an offer from a Big 4, the office managing partner is inviting you out for coffee and top golf? I hadn’t even read the offer letter yet 🤣 Are audit seniors needed this badly?
I moved from B4 to industry accounting about 5 years ago. I currently work as a corporate accounting manager at a software company. I recently hired an big 4 audit senior right out of public and I’m struggling to get him up to speed. Does anyone have an example of reasonable vs unreasonable expectations for a senior accountant moving to industry after 2-3 years at B4 audit?
How many years of modeling experience in the big 4 will lateral to Associate level investment banking and will the pay be different from a post-MBA first year associate?
do any consulting firms in the US (MBB, Big 4) sponsor MBA programs outside of the country (e.g. London Business School, HEC Paris, INSEAD)
Started in industry two weeks ago. No timesheets, 40 hour work weeks, and 30% more than what I was making previously. We use all B4 for everything, so it’s just managing their work and budgeting. I feel like I have hit the jackpot. Moral of the post: there is none, I just want to brag about how happy I am now 😂
Big 4 is a high school ! I like to play :)
Friend didn’t get promoted (actually a friend) and is now trying to switch to another big 4 to get the promo. Ideas of reasons to give for making the switch?
Sacramento Big 4 folks: What is your office culture like? Which is the best Big 4 in town in terms of market power?
Thinking about getting into valuations. Anyone have any insights about this path in Big4 and in industry? Specifically I’m wondering: 1) what’s the scope of work like at Big 4? (Is the service line split into industry sector groups, or do some groups do Valuation for tangibles and another does intangibles) 2) how are the hours like? Working 9am - 3am consistently? 3) what exit opportunities exit after the Big 4 experience? 4) how does Compensationfor HCOL seniors/ manager look this year?
Currently at Crowe with a Big 4 offer- financial advisory (Manager). I’m ready for a jump and saw that both BCG and Bain are opening offices in my locale (Denver, CO). I’m assuming they’re going to be staffing up. For those BCG and Bain fish, is it worth it to reach out and to whom?
Would Publicis Sapient MC practice have exit ops at the same level as Big 4? Or is their brand name closer to Tier 2 strategy consulting firms and MBB?
One thing about the Big 4, they will use and abuse you if you let him. They dont give a damn about worklife balance, your personal career wants, or your advancement. They want you to stay where they want you to be.
Would you give up a guaranteed path to a green card in 3 years for a job that you actually enjoy? Could really use some input!
Can MBB alumni give referrals?
I’m haven’t been as excited about an album drop as I am about these final JFK Assassination documents that are about to drop. I think they’ll prove the CIA did it. FB-What do you think they’ll reveal?
How to deal with a spouse that has had it with my relapses. Overall doing great. Used to drink daily to excess for about ten years. Now I have a lapse about once every two years and my spouse hates me and refuses to speak with me. I honestly feel I have come along in leaps and bounds and some slack would be great, I am not perfect but a million miles better than I was. Are they being unfair or am I still a selfish drug addict that needs to give more empathy?
Been offered a job in-house. For a tech brand. Could go from a MW salary to an ACD salary overnight. Marketers are all ex-agency, have big ambitions for the work. They have brand partners so briefs wouldn’t all be for 1 brand. Is it worth it this early on in my career? I’d also get stock options on top of huge salary increase.
Is it crazy to go from $330k total comp in consulting to $240k total comp in corporate strategy at a F50? Base would be about the same in both roles. Young family at home, need to exit consulting and get better work life balance. We could afford it financially, though unlikely to see meaningful increases for a few years in the new role. Anyone taken that kind of pay cut before for family and balance reasons?
Has anyone heard a firm-wide policy that ALL time spent billing is to be self-written off by associates and is not bonus eligible? Have heard from a friend that a firm I am considering lateraling to has such a policy. Red flag?
I just lost my job due to covid-19 repercussions and need your help. As an AD making $120-145k on salary, how much should you request to freelance (hrly)? Thanks in advance!
Dears, Just want to check how is Wipro with HSBC project in terms of work life balance and culture?
Seeking a referral and/or position insight for a Manager position in EY Law's Contract Lifecycle Management division in Seattle, WA.
I created an Amazon Wish List for my classroom. Now what?? What platforms do you use to share it? Has anyone had success with this??
Folks who've been laid off before: how do you keep the anxiety from creeping in anytime you make even a small mistake at the new job? 🙁
Feeling like my firm has a very outdated parental leave policy (and none of the women partners have children)! What is the parental leave policy at your firm? Please include: (1) size of firm; (2) location of firm (city, state); (3) how many paid weeks off from firm (not state/fed benefits); (4) other policies such as ramp up/down time, etc.
For Advisory folks: compensation is out (bonus is still a mystery). Go to "ht tps://deloittenet.deloitte. Com /cb/pages/ home.aspx. Then go to "access the benefit enrollment tool" then login to SAP. Then search for core life.
Currently working as Manager in a small boutique consulting firm, highly focused on handful of healthcare clients. Got about 6 years of experience working for a Blues health plan client in various engagements, mostly IT strategy related- clinical transformations, acquisition of a Medicaid contract etc. as a program manager. I’m looking to switch to strategy in Deloitte, EY etc. Any fishes who can provide a perspective if this is a typical profile?
How difficult will it be to switch to the commercial consulting practice of another Big 4 firm coming from Deloitte’s Federal consulting practice?
