Does it count if I went to law school first and then worked in tax at an accounting firm? Then went back to law school for more tax stuff?

Yes, JD/LLM. Big firms are in lockstep (mostly) for the first 6-8 years salarywise. First year associates make 190k, 8th years with bonus can make upwards of 400k

KPMG reached out to me earlier this week and I’m interviewing for a tax position tomorrow morning. JD working on CPA. Working for a regional firm right now making $79k. I like it, but the benefits aren’t great.

Would anyone working in tax at KPMG recommend making the switch? What do your hours look like? Are you satisfied with the benefits?

Hi Everyone,
I hope life is treating you well.
I recently moved to Ottawa from Louisville, Kentucky, and I am looking for an accounting job in Ontario or Quebec. I have work experience in Tax& Finance and an MBA in Accounting. I was wondering if any of you could refer me for an open position in your company ( after we’ve had a chance to talk, of course) or put me in contact with a member of your hiring team.
Please let me know if any of you would be comfortable doing so.

Thanks,
Sarah

When I spoke with a recruiter seems like there is not a lot of “interesting” tax opportunities in industry that really stuck out to me. They mentioned potential opportunities for a PE controller role. Has anyone ever tried this? It would be a smaller shop so imagine I’d be doing everything if I was considered. Would I be setting myself up for failure?
