What would you do? I was laid off and now have two directions:
1) Back to old job in industry with security and knowing what I’m getting/how to do the job well/job security but $15k reduction in salary plus nominal API still working 60+ hrs a week...
2) Consulting again at big 4 but don’t know team and threat of unpredictability/more layoffs but $25k increase in salary.

Mini rant: I did three rounds of interviews and conducted a case study for a startup medium sized company just for me to get rejected by them essentially stating that they felt like I did not have enough experience in the role but that I had been the only one to do a great job on the case study. These multiple interview rounds need to stop. I thought it was pretty ridiculous.

Does anyone else feel that we’re being told “everyone is hiring” but no one is ACTUALLY hiring? More so, putting people through the ringer then saying “we’re on a hiring freeze/position put on hold”. Notice Period question please. After being in the same company for 8yrs & experiencing burnout in the last 2 years, I’d like to make sure I take a month’s break before jumping into my next role. Esp as I havent taken more than 2 days off at a time this year (max. 3 times/Long weekends).

What’s the best way to go about it? Should I give my exact notice period & negotiate start date, or share my notice period with a “buffer”?

(I’m a former employee from the consulting side) I had a first round interview, that from my perspective, I aced… I answered everything thoroughly, I was engaged with the interviewer…she stated my skills lined up perfectly with the role and that she wanted me to talk to her manager….15 min after the interview I get a no go email…ugh
