Anyone working for a manager/PM who seems afraid to do their job and have tough conversations? My client just hella increased our scope and she sat quiet.. now she wants ME to convey to the client that this is too complicated o_O

It’s happened to me before too. I think it’s best to view those moments as opportunities. I’d write an email to your PM though and lay out your plan. That way, if someone comes back to ask you why you had that convo with the client, you can point to the email and say it was the agreed course of action. You can then also point to that during performance evaluations and say you’re increasing the scope of your responsibilities.

General advice when approaching the client about this: Put it in a PPT and present three options. One option is your recommendation, one option is their request, one option is a compromise. Lay out the pros and cons, explain how each one affects the timeline/stakeholders. If something they’re asking for is legit out of scope, don’t necessarily say you can’t do it - recommend it be considered an enhancement for after the project completes and try to win new work:)

Once. I also didn’t say anything. that isn’t my job and I’m horrible at pushing back to clients. I just accepted the work and ended up working 50 hours in four days trying to get this scope in. Address it now with your PM or whoever is senior to them or else it will fall on your plate.

I shouldve said this but my manager told me to do this.. i could go over her but id feel like im snitching .. sorry to hear about 50 hrs in 4 days smh

Hey everyone! I am a CPA, started at PwC, now the assistant controller at a small/medium sized Ag company. Thus far, the plan has been to follow the CFO path. But recently I have been longing for more social/client facing interactions. I am very extroverted. I love meeting and connecting with new people and would like to incorporate that into my career. Any thoughts on possible career paths that would combine my experience in accounting with a more socially fulfilling job?

Thanks I’m advance!

Hi everybody! 😊
I've been working as a Junior Analog Design Engineer for a year and half.
I received a proposal for a Senior Analog Designer role from Bosch in the same city where I am currently working.
Should I wait and build up a few more years of experience before accepting a Senior role or should I jump in and work to fill the gap?
Next year, there will be an important deadline for the project I'm working on and my resignation could be critical for the team, how would you deal with it?
