I’ve joined Capital One this past after April after 6 years in consulting. I’m a BA in the card division. Overall, I really enjoy working at capital one. As everyone mentioned, the culture and work life balance is quite good. In terms of work, I feel like I’m owning and driving meaningful work for our company. Currently I’m leading the development and implementation one of the largest profit drivers for our team. However I do believe this differs on which Card team you work. Pay is slightly lower at Capital One however I do think the work life balance and interesting work make up for it. I haven’t been around long enough to comment on the office politic but I’m sure it’s similar to all large companies.

Thank you, CapOne4! Do you think masters degree can help me negotiate compensation at senior associate level if I get an offer, or it wouldn’t make much difference?

Is this part of on the rotational programs? TDP? I forgot what they called the business one

Not sure! Recruiter reached out on LinkedIn, but didn’t provide much detail

I have a friend who was there. Said it was a lazy and bureaucratic team

Hey - glad to be wrong on this. Just relaying a close friend’s experience

The PE culture is sick. The 20 something VP was rude to our partner because our team took thanksgiving and the day before off and it was in the engagement letter that we were gonna be off. He kept emphasizing that his team did our job while we were on a break. Dude we are not sick like you and we have lives. I see something about how s**t the PE culture is in every deal we support. Like these sickos make fun of us for working 80+ hours weeks for them and taking thanksgiving off.

I want to take the offer but not sure if I'm setting myself up for failure due to not having a strong tech background. Any advice?

Been a Big4 director (technology) for 1 year and was offered just a FAANG role as an EM (I like to interview every now and again to see what the options are). Offer is financially better than my current role and hours seem way better than Big4 hours, but I am not sure I would learn as much as I have been learning as a director. Anyone on here been through the same transition?

Working as an audit staff in big 4 shared service centre. It's been 2 years. I really don't like what I do there, also it seems I won't like what I'll be doing there even after becoming senior. Thinking of leaving and joining industry once ACCA qualified. (One more paper left). But people around me discourage that growth potential and earnings in industry are way less compared to public accounting. I know that too but I still want to leave. I'd like to stick to core accounting. Thoughts pls
