Anyone worried that the job they get will just suck the fun out of what you like to do? For example, I love movies and I'd love to write them, but I'm worried that somehow the fun of it will be removed. Has anyone thought about this?

Are you referring to writing movie scripts? I can say that working in the creative field comes with its highs and lows. I do a lot of writing and I have many ideas for personal creative projects I would love to work on but since I also do content and freelance writing, it can be hard to get into or enjoy my personal projects since no one is paying me to those

Hello! I call that burnout. Sometimes we have to step back and take some time for ourselves. Travel, talk to people, and do things that make you happy. Sometimes all it takes is nice vacation to get back on track.

It happens all the time! You will probably learn a lot and be ready to quit when you feel the fun is over.

Happens frequently! I love writing fiction, but because I write and edit textbooks for a living, I find that I fumble with wanting to write outside of work. You wont really know if you like doing something for a living unless you try it, but be prepared to maybe one day say that's enough and step away from it as a career.

It's more common than you think. It can get pretty boring and repetitive at times but it helps to give yourself a break from everything that has to do with it. As a writer I sometimes feel like I need a break from words so I avoid reading even though that's my favorite pastime. I do something else like bake or do some gardening.

It's possible. But you should use it as motivation. Do not think of it that way. Burn out will always be there. So make sure to take a break so that your passion will be restored. Don't worry too much!

I am working in a support profile right now but I want to transition my career to data analysis. I am already learning MS Excel, Power BI, SQL. I have also started applying for jobs in LinkedIn and Naukri.

How much knowledge do I need to have to crack the interviews, also how can I shape my support profile resume for more suitable to data analyst profile?

Also which kind of companies I need to apply for, so that my chances of getting selection is more?

Asking for a friend: Coming out of top-10 MBA, and debating between 2 offers post MBA - Deloitte S&A or ZS. Comp: same base, but ZS offers COLA bump and 2nd year tuition reimbursement. Big comp difference in the short term, but I'm not sure if I want to commit to the life sciences route.
Will working in ZS commit me and limit exit opportunities long term? will broader scope S&A offer better exits?
Would love to hear thoughts

Question for my fellow fish, thinking about buying a new home and putting 10% down instead of 20%. Only because I want to have some extra money laying around for new home items I’ll need. Then after 3-4 months of PMI my plan is to call and drop the other 10% in a big payment to remove PMI. Is this something I can do? I also think if I do 10% down instead of 20% I can get a lower rate as a first time home buyer.
