Realized recently that switching out of my toxin work group is going to be incredibly difficult for a number of factors. Beginning to think I just need to lateral somewhere else but afraid I’m going to end up in a worse position with fewer connections. Would you stay and play long game trying to slowly transition out of group or just lateral and be done?

I’m in a specialist group with only a few other associates in my office. I know for a fact I outperform (and outbill) at least one of them, and the others are at different levels than I am so different metrics. I feel like the partner in my office gives me a way harder time on things than other associates not in my office and I’m held to a way higher standard than the others. How to deal with not being staffed on deals and seeing others in your year be staffed? When asking partners directly for work, they refer you to the staffing partners. When asking staffing partners (repeatedly), they say “thanks for interest, we will have something soon.” Weeks and weeks pass by and you’re always below where you should be for billable hours (at this point, very far below). All reviews are essentially perfect and no negative feedback. Extremely frustrating and discouraging.
