Anyway to change my personality so I don’t get mad so easily? I snap at my husband and kids over stupid stuff. I hate myself for it.

Best option is to find a well-rounded therapist and explore with them what treatment modalities are likely to be effective. For example, there are listings on Psychology that include years of experience and areas of specialization.

Recognize your triggers & actively work to reverse it. Try to destress as stress heightens our triggers. You’re not alone!

It sounds like you want to change how you respond/react to certain situations. Maybe start by identifying one that happens frequently and think about alternate responses you can have in those situations. Then practice! Give yourself credit when you handle it well and when you don’t reflect and think about what you can do differently next time.

Do this: Walk away, set a timer for 30 minutes, spend every minute processing the information alone, then walk back in with a clearer and more relaxed mind. Mess with the timer; maybe you need more or less time. Do a debrief at the end of the day with your husband and just don't be an asshole about it - accept constructive criticism. Acknowledging and also admitting you're being unreasonable is a majorly important first step. On your internal hierarchy of importance, this is automatically top 3.

Also, something maybe not recommended but is an option, try smoking weed / eating edibles - it might help settle you in the early game so you can find mechanisms that work for a more permanent implementation later on.

Honestly I feel like I react badly and have a short temper sometimes. Personally, I think it came from my mom. But that's no excuse. I honestly think it's something you have to work on. Like others have said, calm down. Think before you say. Or go somewhere for 10-30 minutes to cool down.

It’s because you feel out of control- you don’t feel better by controlling others- let it go ! Then discuss your annoyance over stupid stuff and ask your family to help . You might be surprised by their reaction. They will want to help. It’s a team effort.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (can just Google the concepts if you don't want to actually talk to a therapist), potentially beta blockers if you have underlying stress or anxiety disorders that cause you to have a bad chemical balance that could be causing you to be hair trigger.

Therapy, also my friend got on anti anxiety meds and that actually really helped with short temper/being easily annoyed

Do you know which one? I’m going to see a doctor and would be nice to have a conparison

Medication- there are probably anti anxiety meds that can help calm your nervous system down from being so reactive and irritable.

Try ashwagandha

First thought would be to make sure you are healthy. Meaning getting enough sleep, not drinking too much, taking good vitamins.

That therapist would be a miracle worker, just looking for a minor improvement

I’ve successfully worked through managing my emotions by doing the following:

1. Diet and exercise - helps with anxiety which drives frustration and anger.

2. Meditation - 5-10mins daily. Takes about 2 weeks to notice effects.

3. Journal - pen to paper helps solidify in your mind the person you want to be (not the person you are currently)

4. Accountability - tell your family you recognize the behavior and are taking X steps to correct. Ask them for their support, patience, and kindness as you work through it.

5. For immediate results, recognize the second you feel the anger (meditation will help with this), take a breath and ask that you be excused to gather your thoughts. You’ll return shortly to discuss. With time, you can slow this process and not need to walk away, but you have to break the automatic response, first.

6. Your thoughts create your reality. You can change the way you think about something and therefore change the way you react.
Circumstance-> Thoughts -> Feelings -> Actions -> Results. Google this model and do the work (CTFAR). You can change the way you react to circumstances.

Meditation, therapy, yoga

I don’t understand what to do to lose weight. F/30 years old. From 18-27 I did all the diets (OMAD, keto, IF, only eating 1200-1300/day with workouts 5-7x/wk) before realizing it was f’ing up my relationship with food. Switched to weight lifting, mindful eating w/balanced plates the past 3 yrs but gained all the weight I’d lost with the diets + some. I’ve returned to calorie counting (though staying above 1400) and I’m within 10lb of my goal but my progress yo-yos each week. Feel discouraged 😞
