I give the valets in my building about $50-100 depending on if I like them or not
Nope. No one in my building does. Maybe some guests do
Iāve been thinking about this. One lady treats me super well and I was thinking of getting her something nice. The others treat other residents well but not me so much so I wouldnāt feel giving all a general gift.
Guys, $50-$100 per person sounds way too much? That would be like $500+ based on how many people rotate through
If you canāt afford to compensate those who serve you once a year then move to a cheaper place. You can do what you want but I find it extremely disrespectful as it is custom in the city. Plus those people watch your packages, make sure no one is going into your apartment... etc.
Iāll give you better advice. Also- New Yorker here, if thatās helpful info.
I gave $35-$50 for my front desk / concierge staff depending on how much I interact with them. $10-$20 for the maintenance staff, also dependent on the above. Less than $30 for your front desk would be cheap.
FYI: we have a team of about 5 to 6 very nice people on 24 hours of rotations. Price per apartment unit ranges from 800k for one bedroom to 2M for a very large two beds or three beds
