Newly in-house. Apparently, it was bad to offer my opinion that slightly differed from the managers, even though I was invited by said manager to review their suggestion with an internal client. We collectively discussed how to make a document better. I responded to an email that said "hey you and internal client - could you both see my suggestions (which differed from the clients). Internal client didn't really agree, so I said "can we add managers edits but keep some of clients edits"

I’m finding that a weird side effect of losing my job in this climate is ad agencies taking advantage of my weakened position. They get in touch, proactively or in response to my reaching out, and they want to hire me as they are in good shape. When I reveal I was laid off, the offer changes to freelance or maybe nothing. My work, awards, the fact that they know me and approached me in the first place should be enough. I don’t want to lie about my situation. Any ideas how to avoid this?

I would not want a colleague to come in if they just flew across the country until they isolate for a week or two, but it's individual choice at my office. I can stay home or go in. Just a rant but earlier I asked my boss if they would reimburse me for registration costs (less than $100) for an upcoming alumni networking event, and he flatly said no since it is "not a conference that the company typically attends" so I would have to bear the expenses, or speak to the COO for approval.
