Completely unsurprising. Should’ve impeached him when they could.
D1, I wasn’t asked who would handle it BEST - just whether Pence would handle it better. I agree with Pelosi as a candidate for competency over Pence.
PwC1, malignant narcissism or sociopathy is hard to understand unless you’ve been in the same ecosystem as someone diagnosed with it, and after that you can’t miss it. I’m not saying it as a slur - a sociopath genuinely doesn’t think the way other people do. He doesn’t see the world the same way. He views it as a system to rig, there’s no moral underpinning at all. There might be the understanding that doing something in way A rather than way B will get him blowback and make him “look bad”, but the ethical contents of A or B are not relative. It’s all about winning and being top dog.
I had one as a boss years ago; he was eventually diagnosed, but until that point he was a blend of charming/ruthless/oblivious/cruel/gaslighting/successful that was hard to untangle. A high proportion of non-criminal sociopaths are CEOs because they take risks that others wouldn’t. (He destroyed the company, by the way, by playing shell games with the parent company and then when the subdivision was disbanded he divorced his wife, moved half the country away from his kids and took up with a 20 year old.)
If you’ve been in proximity to a narcissist, the behaviors are unmistakable the second time round. They’ve been even more clear in the past week’s press conferences. He doesn’t think like most people. He isn’t capable of empathy. And that empathy is needed to do this particular job correctly at a time like this.
Go look up the diagnosis and behaviors. It’s real, he was born with it, and he can’t change. That’s not his fault. It is OUR fault that we elected him and then kept him in office with all of those behaviors in full display. They can be entertaining - they like the admiration they get in return. But they don’t care about you at all, and can’t, outside of the value you afford them as a tool to elevate themselves. This is why all the officials have to scatter praise into their answers when they’re at the podium.
Talk to a friend who’s got any connection to psychology. Psychopathy has gotten wrapped up in the criminal psychopath bit shown in tv and movies, but there are just regular-looking people wandering around with it who haven’t found the most efficient means to get what they want is murder. Sometimes it’s white collar crime too. You know, like con artists.

Lots of confusion about whether the order for a volume is the same thing...apparently they and companies receiving orders are not sure how it works. Oops.

It’s not like you can shut down an auto assembly line on Friday and line up your supply chain to start producing masks on Monday. If you’re a supply chain expert challenge me on this one.

If I’m not mistaken he did not have the information at the time and actually walked it back later
I heard there are companies in the USA making test kits and sending them off to Europe. Seems odd to me when we need more test kits ourselves. I know one person that can't get tested.
