I’ve heard the recruiting strategy at lots of firms is changing from MBA to experienced hires and PHDs. I see that is true at MBB but what about Big 4 and smaller firms?
I have an engineering background, graduated last December, and accepted MBB over FAANG (product design & manufacturing engineering offers) . This bowl’s focus on exiting consulting into FAANG (cont)
MBB folks - where do you buy your shoes and laptop bags from? It's always so easy to identify you guys based on those two factors alone. Let's be honest, your shoes and 💼 game is on point!
Anyone switch to MBB from big 4?
What are some of the best consulting firms for a software engineer? Is MBB still considered elite in this area too?
What are post-MBA MBB salaries in Europe and Asia? I keep hearing that they’re a lot lower than in the US but I’m trying to understand how material the difference is. (I’m asking because I’m debating between an M7 and intl MBA program.)
I’ve realized most people actually hate the big D, because lots of the people hired & top talent were near misses at MBB (final round etc.) and they resent the firm because of it. It’s a sad reality but it’s true.
Replace Goldman Sachs with MBB in this video and you get this bowl https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx4poQw1mZo/
MBB 🐠: who do you see as your biggest competitors besides other MBB firms? As in, who do you come across most when bidding for work?
Anyone in MBB dealing with narcolepsy? How do you manage? Do you ask for accommodation and how does it turn out?
For those that have done MBB background checks, what does "5 years paid employment history" mean: 1. Paid employment history from the past 5 years i.e. December 2016 - December 2021 2. 60 months of paid employment history
Fishes at MBB or even Big 4 consulting. How is the return-to-work / hybrid model being worked out at your firm? I stared not too long ago and I’m not huge fan of the virtual environment. I’ve found it to be longer hours, unproductive and needless zoom calls. Before the WFH forever zealots jump on me, but m not advocating to return back the office 100%. I’m just genuinely curious if this will continue to be the norm. Because if it is, it’s not for me.
Has anyone had experience/any luck negotiating their new level at MBB? Making the switch from Tier 2 to BCG and trying to keep my same level.
Would CBS J-term make sense if you want to transition from MBB to a US start-up or FAANG?
Is the worst over? How is everyone’s firm doing? MBB, Deloitte, Strategy&, EYP, Accenture, etc
Hey everyone, I have a BSc degree from a semi-target university in the United Kingdom, and I currently have around 2 years of strategy consultancy experience at a Big 4 in one of Africa's most competitive economies. I'm looking to step into consulting in Dubai/ Abu Dhabi (MBB, Tier 2, boutiques, etc.). Any referrals? Thanks
From talking to students at multiple M7 schools, it seems like all of the BB/MBB/FAANG companies recruit at most if not all of the schools . So if you're planning on recruiting for one of these, is there really a major difference in career opportunities between each school? Asking because it seems like some schools are specifically known for finance vs consulting vs tech, but if the companies are all recruiting at all these schools, the differences don't seem as pronounced to me.
Didn’t get the MBB offer, so going FAANG
Anybody trying to be my Spanish speaking partner? Looking for anyone. If multiple people want to we can do a group thing where we’re all on zoom just speaking in Spanish too. I’m a beginner... M - Black - 25 - 7.439 (scale 1 to 10 on looks) - 7.440 (scale 1 to 10 on comedic level) - great listener - I have my dumb days like very very dumb 😅
After 2 years at my company (Multi national company with >1k employees) I was promoted to Senior SWE with a 10% salary bump from 85k to 93.5 I live/work in the Baltimore area which I consider Medium COL. Is this a reasonable adjustment for a senior promotion in this area?

Hi, I’m an analyst at a Big 4 firm about 3 months into my first project and feel lost and utterly confused. Project is outside of my skill set and interest and I feel like I’m in too deep and don’t care enough to eat shit for this project. Not looking to get my hand held, and never afraid of hard work, but this project really sucks in my opinion. Really wanna get to a new project but trying to figure out if it’s me or the project? Anyone ever been in these shoes?

General question: If you get laid off from a job, and have ~6 month’s of expenses saved, would you simply focus on getting a new job, or getting a new job that pays more? Should you ever take a pay cut, especially in times like these?

Ever been promoted at your firm while on a project and you have to be rolled off bc your billable rate is higher than what the client has budgeted? Or does your firm find this as an opportunity to renegotiate the SoW?
