McKinsey & Company Applied for a counsel (AGC) position at McKinsey & Company and have been invited to complete a 30 minute written exercise with two hypos. I wondered if anyone here had ever seen these from McKinsey specifically and could give any insight to what it's about -- substantive, more blue sky like their consulting interviews, other? (Cross-posted in ask a legal recruiter bowl). Thank you!

I’m working with an outside recruiter on an AGC position there. Are you going for the employment focused one or the patent one? Also their website has a section on interviewing and prep, and they have a gamified problem solving app. Wonder if that’s what you’ll be doing.

Hi all,

I'm new here.

I had an interview in LTI for a .Net Developer position. There were 2 technical rounds and I got selected. I received an email from the recruiter to submit the documents and EAF. I had submitted the requested documents the same day. The recruiter told me that she will schedule the HR round.

I was following up with her, and after a month she messaged me on WhatsApp and said, the HR round can't be scheduled because my expected CTC is her maximum budget. Seriously 😳

I am currently interviewing for a management position, this will be the first management position I hold. I hold a masters degree and about 7 years experience in the business. Any advice on how to show I am ready/can handle this position? The only qualification from the job description I don’t hold is the management part.

Any advice?

I have strong credentials but I’m worried this small firm experience is killing my marketability to large companies.

I’ve been with my organization a little over a year and we’ve had major transitions and turnover that took me from starting as a recruiter coordinator to a hr generalist, and now an interim hr manager. I have a masters degree in industrial organizational psychology and while I am new to HR have professional work experience in other fields-military, teacher, training specialist. I love what I do. Should I apply for the hr manager position with only a year of hr work history? Do I have a chance?

Who’s head of BA at Translation NYC? I heard the place was a mess a few years back but want to be optimistic and send my CV in.

Just need a place to vent. I confronted my mother regarding favoritism/sexism yesterday. Long story short, I’ve received a total of $2400 for collect support from my family ($200/month for a year). Since then I’ve graduated and been giving back to the family with monetary support ($3-5K per year) and gifts over the last 5 years of my career. It is hard to watch my younger brother (3 yrs younger) to get so much more support during college for things such as trips and even post college. Cont’d.

Hi Everyone - Need some insights. My PERM process was started by company in Feb’22 (currently awaiting wage determination, submitted to DOL in May’22). Its been months and DOL is working on requests from Jan’22. My H1B expires for good in Oct’23 (with all the recapture). Is there any chance I’ll have my PERM completed by then? For those of you who have been through this process, what was the overall timeline like? Non ROW. Appreciate any insights you can help provide! TY!

Why would the staffing agency (who got me my current job) be reaching out to me after a year? A little back story, I got my foot in the door at my company through a staffing agency. It was a freelance to permanent role. If they ended up liking me, I would become a perm employee. They liked me after ONLY a month and I was permanently hired. But now, almost 1 year later, the staffing agency is asking if we’re hiring and if I can give them the name of my manager for my file? Is that sketchy?

In-house counsel - would you prefer working at a big company specializing in a field of law, eg, privacy, IP, employment, etc, or a small company being a general counsel? Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?
