Applied for a firm that said it’s “Schedule for the position” was 9 days x 80 hrs, with every other Friday off...anyone know what this means exactly?

Yes, it’s called 9/80... You work 9 hours a day M-Th... Every other Friday off with the working Friday being a 8 hour day.

like

For all the math going on, you do a total of 80 hours distributed over 9 days, not 90 hours

Many companies do this BCG.

Very common in O&G

like

Common in defense as well.

So you work 5x10 one week, 4x10 the next week and then have a 3 day weekend

This must be why I’m not getting any interviews

funnylike

Normally means you plan to work 8-6 every day rather than 8-5. So you’re making up for every other Friday off by working an hour extra on the other days.

10 hrs/day but with a 5 day week followed by 4 day

No

Got it, thanks all!

The schedule sounds amazing. Sign me up!

Hey everyone. I'm seeing so many people with 6-figure salaries and I'm starting to question my own for my education/experience/location. Making ~73 as a design engineer with 7+ years of engineering experience, a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue, and working/living in Indiana. Am I right to question my salary in my situation?

Primarily remote roles

I’ve been offered a position that I’m really excited about. Their initial offer was 10K more than the top of the salary range they gave me for the position when I asked during the interview process and at the top end of the salary requirements I set for myself. My partner thinks I should still negotiate for more even though I’m happy with the offer. Am I an idiot if I don’t negotiate in this case? Realistically, I don’t think I’d get much more than that, but should I negotiate out of principle?

My recruiter told me I️ would be hired as an FTE after 3 months now they keep extending me month by month & the instability of not having health benefits makes me feel extremely anxious. Im thinking of sticking around but also debating looking for a new opportunity w/ more stability/clarity. Any advice? Open to anything, preferably a proposal/project coordinator role if anyone is hiring
