Applied to BCG NYC office in December and made it to the final round, but wasn’t given an offer. Want to reapply to NYC, but was told by a friend in recruiting that they wouldn’t give me a first round being that I was rejected only 7 months ago. Anyone know whether it not this is true?

I applied for and was screened by HR for a Director position. It wasn't a good fit but I was passed over to another VP. I had a phone interview with that VP which went very well. He expressed interest in creating a Director level role for me based on my experience and interests. I received feedback via a 3rd-party recruiter that the company is in the process of creating a req. and will bring me on-site for another interview. Problem: They changed the level to Principal Eng. I had a call today with the recruiter and he was saying that the offer would be like between 30-33 lpa fixed plus stocks, variable and joining bonus. Did my decision round with BCG and came out feeling meh. The interviewers pushed me a lot (made me brainstorm on where to start until I found the right place) and didn’t really work with me through the case (just let me go on even if my I was a 0 off in my calculations).

Is this normal? The experience was vastly different from my R1.

How long does it take to get used to the pace and expectations of MBB? Just started my first project this week and felt like I got my rear kicked.

Currently 1-1.5 years out of college, working at a T2 firm doing commercial due diligence work. Have gotten some offers but confused about which one to take:

1. OW PE team, joining in a position higher than at my current firm, basically skipping a year. OWs PE practice as far as I know doesn’t have huge market share
2. McKinseys PE practice but coming in a position lower than where I currently am
3. Stay at my current firm which is experiencing high growth

End goal is to move to the buy side

Can anyone recommend good case prep materials?
