I get the sense that part of the reason schools are slow to re-open is that the faculty is opposed to going back for self-serving reasons with an irrational argument to support their position. It seems like a lot of time is spent focusing on all the things that could go wrong and minimal time on how to make it work. Fiancée (woman) wants to keep her hyphenated name after her previous divorce because she likes it better and wants to keep using it for her career/personal brand. Talk to me about vacation shaming. Whenever I have mentioned time off to my superiors (one in particular), I get a very negative response disguised as "helpful advice" suggesting it would be better for my career that I not take leave at this specific time, or I get the cold shoulder.
