How did you find out?
I’ve known the assistant manager there for years and I asked him how the search was going since I hadn’t heard back about the position yet. So I also don’t want to potentially put him in a vulnerable position for telling me
Is this a transfer within the same company? This is a huge 🚩 I would leave asap. If you want to stay be upfront about it and call the manager out. It sounds like it was justified since you admitted to being lte it’s just that they lack communication skills/professionalism. If you care too keep the job take an earlier bus route and don’t give them any reason to block you from advancement.
My daughter is a leasing agent that doesn’t understand office politics either. Future employer shouldn’t contact current manager. They should contact HR. HR verifies dates. End of story. I’m guessing you provided your manager as a reference. I’d never do that. My current employer has a huge financial stake in me staying. I always get a counter offer to stay. Maybe they knew each other, either way you don’t want those two talking. Lesson learned. There is nothing to say to your manager. You don’t have a future under her if she’s giving a bad reference. You’ll probably be the first to be laid off if things slow down. You know all this, so keep looking for another job. Your career is finished there, but there’s no reason to discuss the end of your career. Learn and move on. Build a better relationship with the next manager. Have a common understanding of flex time or out of office. Know that it gets better as you get more senior in an organization.
She's probably making you look bad to keep the focus away from her as it could mean she has bad management. Why do you think she did this?
