You’re not crazy! I’m doing the same. It’s nice to have credit of your own work for a change and bigger $$

Depends on if you have a free ride or not. If you have a free ride, nope, you are not crazy. If you don't, you might be crazy 😆. There are several things to think about such as how long will it take for you to pay off your loans and actually be making money? Have you considered the longer hours most attorneys work and that they don't get overtime? How long do you have left in your career? Is it possible to change fields as a paralegal to make more without the debt? I see some of the salaries posted and I'm shocked because I made more and didn't have the debt. I've also had friends who were lawyers quit law before all their debt was paid off because they just couldn't do it anymore. So while the big salaries seem nice, lots of things to consider.

Go for it!! ☺️

Nope!!! You can do it!

like

No absolutely not. I’m doing it right now as well. I have 10 years experience between working for the court, the commonwealth’s attorney’s office and my current job. Might as well put it to use!
I’m beyond happy for you and pray for your success!

like

Yayy!! So happy for you & your bravery ta do what must be done! Lol I love being support staff but I want to be in the drivers seat! Lol

Be sure you can pay the loans and pass the bar. Also LP 1 is correct. Do the math. How many hours do lawyers work and calculate their pay. Sometimes it sounds good but not IRL.

like

For once in my life I’ve planned and considered all those things lol!

Anybody know the salary range for Portfolio Implementation Manager at Bank of America in any location?

Looking for some insight/suggestions: Arbitration scheduled for 2/24 and trial scheduled for 3/23. I am about to file a Motion for Leave to Amend Complaint to add a few counts and a party, along with a Mot for Continuance. Arb was court-ordered after trial was already scheduled. In FL, Courts are very liberal when it comes to giving leave to amend, but just in case, given the super closeness to trial/arb, I’m looking for meritorious reasons to add to my Motion to ensure I can amend! TIA!

Hi everyone, I’ve been trying to land my first product design role and I can’t seem to get my foot in the door. I’ve asked mentors from ADPlist to review my LinkedIn and resume as well as my portfolio and I haven’t had any luck. I graduated from uni in 2020, was bedridden for a whole year which led me to fall behind and I’m embarrassed that I can’t seem to get a job after months of actively trying - I desperately need help as I’m on a Visa that requires me to be employed.
Any advice?

Hello! My name is Alexandria, i am a former preschool and high school teacher, I am currently pivoting to become a paralegal, I’m looking for the best paralegal certificate programs, or best advice to get started. Thanks!

I started at my office over a year and a half ago as a legal assistant. I moved up to a paralegal role in December, but once Covid hit and we let some people go, I was given some of the responsibilities of legal assistant and receptionist on top of my paralegal position. They want to increase my salary to $33,000 /year, which is a substantial increase, but I was making so little as a legal assistant that I’m not sure. I live in a metropolitan city with 1 yr experience. Let me know your thoughts!

Thoughts/suggestions on types of jobs that are *not* paralegal jobs, but that my paralegal degree & experience could be beneficial?

I’m so burnt out from law that I’m starting to think I need to do something else. I can’t keep handling the constant stress from having to do my attorney’s job for them since they’re too scatterbrained to handle most of it themself.

Currently at a firm in Seattle, WA making $68k a year. I have a BA as well as a paralegal cert and 6 YOE. I recently asked for an increase to $90k based off research for comps. but not hopeful they’ll give it to me. I’ve been searching around for other jobs and have recently been contacted by a few w/ comps of $95k but would have to go back to the office. I currently can work remote but the partners are telling new hires eventually will be back in the office 5days. Go or stay?

I know people have asked in here how to go in house. After getting an in house job, I think my best tip is to get an internal referral. This is way easier than I thought. Since employees get paid for referrals if they get hired, usually they are very likely to give you one. Reach out to people on LinkedIn (even if you don’t know them) and ask if they have a referral program!! I did this and within a matter of hours had an interview lined up.

Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.

I have over 20 YOE and have worked in NJ all of my career. I was just approached about a great position in NY. The position is offering 10- 40K plus ample overtime.
I’m concerned about the transition; not used to commuting or being in the office everyday for that matter. I’m currently working a very flexible hybrid schedule. My thoughts: 10K more not worth considering; 20K more I will listen; 40K more I will jump. Thoughts? Has anyone ever made this type of transition in their 40s?

Thank you so much in advance. I really appreciate it!
