Does anybody have any advice when applying to postings with many applicants and getting noticed? The company I am interested in is Figma, and though I reached out to a few technical recruiters after applying through LinkedIn, I am wondering if there might be something more I could do that maybe I’m not thinking about. Also along those lines, if anybody here works for figma I would love the chance to connect

I think you’re overthinking this to be honest. And either way, if a recruiter really did dig into this, the person said in their blog that they sought your help because they trusted your opinion. Wording aside, isn’t that indicative of being a valued team member?
Let it go…..let it go…….let it go…..
You are way overthinking this.

I was going to hire you until I saw that. I put "harsh critic" up there with "embezzlement" and "sex offender registry" when I Google someone.

Guys my friend’s livejournal said I was “intense,” but I like to think of myself more as “focused.” 1) can I sue her 2) will this mess up my application to KPMG?

Haha I’m glad
If you feel the need to write a screed online about how your ex-friend called you a harsh critic once in a personal blog, I’m inclined to believe you’re a harsh critic
Truth, of course, being an absolute defense
All about context, if I read this I would interpret harsh to mean you have a high standard and hold yourself / others to it (a good thing). I would not interpret it to mean you are abrasive or difficult.

Wow OP…I think you need to take a deep breath and a walk or something.

and as defamatory even since it’s not even true as I am pretty laidback and conflict-averse professionally and as a friend. I am shocked and frankly a little hurt she would write that. I think she used critic in an academic sense since she was finishing a BFA, a program that is very criticism-driven (peer and profs) at the time. She also once told me she thought she was on the autism spectrum slightly. I truly believe she maybe even meant it as a positive as in this group I was the smart friend since everyone else was VERY non-academic.
We’re not really on speaking terms anymore because that friendship just naturally faded since we had little in common besides being around a couple of the same people in a job at that time in my life (waitressing through college). I send her a text and a message through website portal just now asking if she could remove my name from her blog post but don’t even know if it’s still her number or if she checks the blog often.
What are my other options for getting this removed and how would you deal with this if in this situation?
Part of me wants to not worry about it at all but concerned this hurts my brand to potential recruiters, especially since not true!

Ok true. You’re right. She didn’t explicitly say trust but mentions she invited me to help review her work bc she knew I would give her honest and constructive feedback. She also called me generally knowledgeable and “articulate” 😑 elsewhere in the blog post so it’s not all negative. I’m a woman of color by the way.
I’m just so NOT a “harsh” anything though! Seriously I have been given feedback at current job to be more assertive. This is just getting to me I guess

This is a compliment and nothing to worry about. I don’t think any recruiter will care or even look for something like this anyway.

Yes I need a walk, a break, so many things. Thanks for the perspective everyone. This is what little sleep and 3 really long days in a row does to you 😅
