Applying to M7 at 2 vs 3 yrs work exp. What are your thoughts on chances? Good stats (760, 4.0), Deloitte/PwC Consulting, and ORM. Any other imp factors beside leadership, ECs? Thanks for your help :)

FWIW I had a very similar profile (though T2 consulting not Big 4) with 2 years of work experience at application and am going to GSB

Sure

Your UG school and major is pretty important. 4.0 STEM at HYPS carries much more weight than humanities at T50 or below UG.

I’d suggest apply at 3yrs for an objectively better chance. Your stats make you a target for the second tier of M7s (very similar to my own and I just went through the process) and definitely worth reaching for the first tier

By 3 yrs do you mean at application date or at matriculation? I’m thinking about applying end of this year when I have 2 years of work experience (so 3 yrs of work expenses at matriculation)

Applying for jobs from an MBA program can be a little more challenging with only two years of work experience. It’s better to go after 3. There is definitely a bias at many firms agains paying $150k+ for a post MBA with only 2 years of work experience unless your resume is solid gold. Some schools, particularly HBS, also look down on repeat applicants unless your resume significantly changes. So if you blow your shot too early you’re coming from behind the next year. There are also social ramifications to being that young in school, especially for men.

That being said yeah I think 3 is better than 2 for many reasons, most importantly that year of maturity

Interview feedback: my answers weren’t concrete enough. I answered questions by sharing my work process, then sharing an example from prior projects and in the example I included how I prepare, who I involve, what that looks like day to day, types of required meetings and what is discussed, how I make decisions, etc. I’m looking for tips on how I can address this feedback? I have fulfilled the responsibilities of the role I applied for so I have the experience. Just need to frame it right.
