Dang I’m 6’, 210 but never considered myself a bigger guy. Don’t know how I feel about this
Yeah I’m 180
Go to any Golf Galaxy or Dicks Sporting Goods. They have entire departments devoted to golf clothes.
Some basic golf etiquette:
- No denim. Ever.
- Your shirt should be tucked in. It’s mandatory at some courses/clubs, and the staff will ask you to tuck in.
- Hats are fine to wear on the course and outside, but some clubs prefer that you not wear them in the clubhouse.
Stick with shirts and pants made of something other than cotton. Synthetic fibers will stretch more, dry out/wick sweat better and will keep you more comfortable.
Also, Greyson is my favorite golf apparel brand by far. I wear their shirts and pullovers probably 75% of the time (on and off the course). https://greysonclothiers.com/
Peter Millar if you can get it shipped in time. If you have a Dicks near you, Travis Mathew is good.
Peter Millar and FootJoy shirts run big. I usually wear an XL, but I wear a L in FootJoy. Can still stick with an XL in Peter Millar, but usually only if I’ve been eating like a pig and need some extra room.
G/Fore is Peter Millar’s brand if you favor something a bit more tailored.
I’m 6ft 215 and always like how under armour golf attires fits. The shirts look great but have this stretch that works perfect for golf swings that your don’t feel restrained.
I’m 6’0 260 and my go-tos are Peter Millar, Footjoy, Callaway and Nike for polos/quarter zips. I go Lululemon for shorts and pants.
+1 on the Lululemon shorts and pants. I have pretty much all the other brands, but don’t wear any of them anymore. Lulu is totally worth the premium.
Travis Mathews is always a good fit if you’re a lean 210 lbs, other option would be bad birdie
G-FORE or bust
I'm 6'7" 325. Very big dude but Calloway, footjoy and stitch fit me really well. Easy to find and generally are a bit longer.
Haha, no draft these days. I do have custom clubs, I played with a set of Ping G2s for a while when I first started with some length added but finally upgraded about a year ago. Unfortunately, now when I play horribly I can't blame the equipment.
The Travis Matthew suggestion is great. However if you get hot easy and live someplace where it might feel like 90 already I highly recommend taking a look at Adidas climalite/cool stuff tennis players wear. I’m in Houston and that’s all I’ll wear in the summer. Be comfortable. Same with the hat. I like visors, but the sun on your head can be too much. Look for really thin hats. Don’t forget a golf belt. Nike makes reversible ones. For shoes, get any style that you like. I prefer the ones that look like tennis shoes for breathability. Too much leather gets hot 🥵
Burlebo shorts and whichever golf shirts fit best. Check out a local course and buy some course branded shirts to look the part
I might pick a shirt up at my next lesson. My firm has a membership at this club and I know I’ll be there for outings at least twice between May and June.
Travismathew for sure
