Are annual physical exams necessary for young people? I am 27M, exercise nearly everyday, eat clean, don't smoke/drink, healthy weight, no medical conditions. My last doctor at the prior check-up was surprised that I was even doing an annual physical exam. Curious on others' experiences with this. TIA!

Yeah, preventative care is thee reason for better health outcomes. Lots of unexpected conditions are caught in annuals. I’d keep going if I were you. And assuming you have insurance through work, it’s free. No reason not to

like

Norm is to get one every other year and every year once you are 30.

like

Never hesitate to go in for an annual physical. They are typically painless and the older you get, the more grateful you will be for having baseline medical data. Also preventative care now means catching potentially big issues early. Do it.

like

I get them, free with my insurance and may as well take them up on it just in case there is something found in the blood work

like

Yes. Always focus on preventative care.

like

Do an annual physical. The whole point is that they are preventative and meant to find conditions you wouldn’t expect you’d have. I’m 26F in the same boat.

like

Does the annual exam include blood work 👀 I normally avoid the blood work piece.

We are the same person. I look the other way and put on headphones

26F, been getting an annual check up every year since insurance covers it with the full blood work up. Came from country with universal healthcare, and still blows my mind how much people undermine preventative care in the States. Referring to those with access and means, I understand that this isn’t an option for everyone.

like

No reason not to, they’re typically covered with no out of pocket. Plus, on the off chance something with your health has changed, it’s identified early.

I’m 60 and still only go once every few years. Unless I feel bad, why go every year?

Better to be mildly inconvenienced once a year than to find out you have cancer or something a little bit too late imo

Does anyone have advice on how to handle? They’re saying this is the only form that’s applicable.
