I would not consider that slow. You seem to be doing well actually - that is a healthy increase of hours month over month.

This happens every single year. The firm has enough grunt work for all incoming first years, I can guarantee you.
Also, you’re averaging 140 hours excluding your first and current months, which is not incredible but not terrible either.
However, you should be looking at getting more sophisticated work so you’re not competing with people who think they scored a first class ticket on the gravy train. If this is happening, you’re all set.
On the other hand, I’m sure there’s not work for the billions of people firms hired last year and when things stabilize some people will be let go. Make sure you’re not one of them.

I am definitely trying. I am asking for more work and getting good feedback.
I think firms usually give out first year bonuses regardless of hours. Not really your fault if you haven’t been fully looped in to a group yet, and the bonuses are pretty low at that point so why create ill will in this lateral market.
I’m sure there are many other firms that would gladly pay you what your firm is not.
