Hot take: Leaving big 4 consulting and joining middle market firm (A&M, GT, etc.) does not, I repeat, does not mean less hours.
Am I a failure if I remain a senior associate for 5 years? Came in as part of an acquisition. Never really wanted the big 4 life and feeling like I don't have what it takes. Also in my 30s.
I have roughly 1.5 YOE at a top 10 firm, half in audit half in TAS, no CPA. I’ve applied to and received referrals for pretty much all big 4 and other 10 firms. For the ones who gave me a phone screen or first round interview, I was told they’d like me to have more YOE before considering me. Yet I see folks on here with 1.5 YOE in just audit getting senior roles in TAS at these same firms. I believe I’m personable and decent at interviewing. Any ideas on why I’m not getting any offers?
Would you leave an amazingly supportive group of people at big 4 to restart the hustle at another big 3?
Do people throw other people under the bus a lot in big 4 ? is it it a lot in public accounting in general
Is it viewed as “not good” to go back to my alma mater for MBA? It’s a top 40 business school and got me into B4 consulting easily. School has strong recruiting presence in the region I want and I have a full ride for their FT program. Appreciate any thoughts!
Any advice?: Just finished long term W2 freelance role (since Jan) + I also have a small 1099 side project that‘ll be finishing up in 2ish wks. If we are talking >10k on 1099 (i.e. not enough to justify filing for SCorp) + <160-200k on W2 — is there any real tax advantage of opening LLC vs paying me directly outside of the “protects personal assets if ever sued”, etc? Technically I *could* open LLC quickly b4 invoicing- but dunno if worth $ to do so for such small amount of 1099 coming in?
When are background checks done to verify current employment at B4? Also do they contact HR or your manager, worried if they would give a bad review, they don’t know I’m leaving (I’m in industry)

Anyone have success returning back to their Big 4 firm but in a completely different competency? I was tech before but want to come back into business
Doing my first exploratory call with another Big 4 recruiter soon. What should I ask them?
Why is the expense report system so shit? If it takes the average consultant 1 hour/wk, if we're billed at $500/hour (SWAG), expense time costs a firm with 10K consultants ~$250M pa...
For B4 partners, what happens to your shares if you leave the firm before vesting? E.g. if you left 3 years after making partner
I’ll be quitting to go back to school for 2 years (online CS degree). Currently living with parents in a rural town with no social interaction. I’m 26 and feel like I’m missing out by not living in a city (can’t date or make friends where I’m at, literally middle of nowhere). Thoughts on sacrificing the next two years of my social life and saving money OR moving out to a city and burning through an extra $30K in expense per year ($60K in total)? I have the money just not sure if it’s worth it…

Have Deloitte promo timelines gotten considerably longer recently? Have heard about: A -> C = 3 years, C -> SC = 4 years, SC -> M = 4 years. Is it the same across other B4 firms?
Just received an offer from Big 4 audit in a major city. But I don’t have driver’s license…
Dear fellow professionals, hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. I wanted to get your guidance and inputs on one thing - I got an offer in Germany (currently in a Big 4 in USA) . I wanted to check what are your thoughts in this bug move, any helpful tips, inputs, resources if you would like to share. Appreciate your time and inputs. Thanks!!

My dog is the biggest mamas boy. We will be out of town for a week soon and when we took this vacation last year, he wouldn't walk with anyone but me. I want my cousins kids to be able to walk him this year, any ideas on how to do this?
I currently work at a firm that pays above market. 12 YOE, people transformation ( culture, not ERP/tech implementation) background. Current total comp is about $140-150k, plus $20k unvested equity. Is this a reasonable salary expectation for my next role: $165-$180 total comp annually, something like: $150k base, 25% bonus, + $30k equity, $25k cash sign on to replace what I’m walking away from in outstanding equity and expected bonus payout for 2021. I work in an organization that rewards toxic behavior, and my boss is exactly that person. I started this job earlier in the year, and with wfh in place, I have grown to despise this job that I worked so hard to get. I know I should be grateful that I have something. But I work all hours of the night and feel stuck - if I speak up about the workload, then I’m thought of as incapable and unreliable. But if I don’t, I burn out and it affects my quality of work.
