My firm announced yesterday. My only qualm is that I got very sick from my second dose and I anticipate similar effects from the booster. But work will continue to come and I guess I'll just have to work sick. Pretty bummed about it.
I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I find this to be completely insane.
A4 - I agree with you, at the end of the day I can just leave. Firms are private businesses and should have the power to demand what ever they want. I’m just voicing my discontent with the situation and my general feeling that we have been misled for the last 2 years. But even more importantly, I don’t see any real incentive for the industry to cut back on vaccines and boosters for any reason. There is now an entire multi billion dollar industry behind this. It’s alarming to say the least. I have personal friends that have profited tremendously from the pandemic, and for them, fear of COVID = $$$. They don’t want this to end. Putting everything else aside, that scares me.
Can folks out these firms that are requiring boosters? (It would be nice to see a list of firms that are actually sane, thoughtful and interested in their employees’ health.)
That's a good question, so the study actually uses meta analysis from many other studies, all of which were cited in the references. While I don't see anything upon a cursory search that states one way or the other, the underlying studies were performed on a randomized control basis. So I'm assuming they would screen out anyone vaccinated as part of that control. However, I'm certainly not a familiar enough with these types of reports to definitively say. That said, I think it's fair to say, that we have all seen first hand by now that people who are vaccinated are capable of contracting Covid and the attached clearly says a treatment other than the vaccine reduces contraction by 85%. The overarching point here is that there are other treatments and other methods available that offer as much if not more protection. And employers should not be mandating that their employees take a one size fits all approach, on something that obviously entails some level of risk. Respect people's personal decisions. That's all. There is a way that allows you to have your peace of mind while still preserving the medical freedom and livelihood of others. There's no reason to cancel or fire anyone over this.
Can you qualify for a medical or religious exemption? Otherwise collect that bonus and bounce, lateral market is hot!
Yup mine did today
I would rather go out and get COVID than get a booster.

Our firm just announced, but it’s required to go into the office (so theoretically you could not get it and stay home, but good luck with your career)
