Are budgeted hours as big a deal at Big 4? I've legit been asked why I charged 8 hours one day on a client I was assigned 40 for the week. It makes it difficult to hit utilization targets too

Littler CaseSmart remote jobs- anyone here work in this capacity? I'm interviewing and would love an "honest take" about how accurate the 1,500 hour billable requirement is, what the work life balance is, whether it is possible to take one or two week long vacations a year, etc.

Edward Jones advisor with 30 million AUM and roughly 250k gross production. Been there for almost 4 years. Got an offer at Merrill Lynch to take over a 100 million dollar retirement transition plan in 5 years, or to join a 5 person Merrill Lynch team that manages a lot.

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.

Consultants who exited to their client, how did you convert? Did the client reach out to you privately or did you express interest?

I do UHNW luxury good transactions. About a year ago we represented buyer and seller on a deal. Deal fell apart because the buyer was shady and actively trying to engage in illegal acts. Buyer reached out asking us to represent them in a new purchase attempt, we declined.

They found new counsel and made an offer on the same asset. The owner doesn’t wish to engage with them. Can I give the owners reasons to the new counsel without violating duty to my old client

We’re in such a vicious business. You give your heart & soul to an agency, a client, a brand. Then the wind changes & you’re laid off, reassigned, chewed up, spit out, on to the next. I’m tired.

If you have stock prior to joining big 4 that is proscribed, are you required to sell? Does anyone really check for senior level?

Whenever I’m assigned something to write or concept, my brain just panics and shuts down. I struggle with writing the simplest things, this started happening about a year ago—long before the virus.

Everytime you shake someone’s hand and it feels like your best friend, could it be that it’s only superficiality? With no regard to well being, without an inkling of compromise....handshake is nothing

Is financial due diligence a good area to transfer to from audit? If the end goal is to be better at financial deal evaluations and financial decisions?

Has anybody themselves made a transition, or known somebody who’s made a transition from senior auditor to a not directly accounting related role, and maintained a solid income trajectory? Like some sort of business strategy, or possibly project management in another industry?

Why don't people in public accounting have unions?

My entire team (I’m Senior with most tenure) is terrified of our Manager, who is confrontational, rude, and stand-offish. Everyone including the other seniors on my engagement are scared to talk to this manager and you can hear in their voice they’re nervous. Funny thing is is once the partner gets on the phone the manager is the nicest most bubbly person in the firm! So two-faced.
