CDs tend to be older than juniors. And older people tend to have more money than younger people, assuming their lives have not been a series of bad choices. I bought my first house 10 years ago, so now I have accrued over a million dollars in equity, just by ageing. I have comic books I bought for a few dollars, which are now worth thousands of dollars. I have managed to squirrel away hundreds of thousands in savings, due in part to compound interest, and ageing. So give it time... and you'll have a nicer house than the younger people on your Zoom calls. But they'll have their youth and better knees than you.
Always the moms for sure. Mama obliberated my Yu-Gi-Oh cards in front of my eyes just cuz I failed a couple tests. Talk bout overreacting
Advertising is like a MLM scheme. The only people who are rich are CCOs, founders and very in-demand and confident freelancers. After a few years as a CD, you don’t feel constantly financially insecure, which is it’s own kind of wealth. But you have to weigh everything against the reality that you might be aged out by 45. And if you have a family, the money goes there and the stress is tripled. But there is a sense if “richness in spirit” of having other people to enrich your life and having something to focus on besides your job, so I’d 100% recommend having a family. “Wealth” in advertising means “you’re not working 24/7 and might be okay if you’re unceremoniously fired or put out to pasture at 45” which is “nice” but also kind of a bummer when you realize WLB and a long career is or used to be, a baseline expectation of most jobs.
You mean triple-dip..
For the effort we should be but sadly we’re not.
No. Unless you own your own agency.
No one will ever get “rich” on a salary. You can be well off, you can be comfortable, but if you want to get rich, you’re in the wrong business.

No not rich. Very comfortable and I want for nothing. I could buy a vacation house in cash tomorrow if I wanted. I can buy any car I want. It wouldn’t be a smart financial decision but I could. I’d say I’m wealthy and have given up a huge percentage of my 20s and 30s to be so. But rich is knowing you can stop working now (in your early forties) and be fine and I’m not there. I just have a beautiful set of golden handcuffs that fit tighter by the year.
I’m a single CD without kids so according to this I’m $$$$! Wait I guess I am 😎
Yeah you are!
Well this was kinda depressing to read lol
Cheer up, it's only depressing until the next CD posts and ur mind is fookin blooooooowwwwwwn 🤯
My 2 cents (mind the pun), and I’m gonna get a bit philosophical here… Doing good financially is how happy you are with the things you have or can afford. Anything extra is considered richness? 🤷♂️
A friend shared this anonymous compilation of salaries on LinkedIn, and apparently no one in advertising is rich unless they’re C-suite. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/1/d/11obKJpckWJNyEYPdhHM0iaGp0x4QoVk_7aitRC5zVlc/htmlview?urp=gmail_link

There’s a lot of false entries. CEO at wkny 145k hahahaha
Enlightening lack of perspective on display in these comments. 😬
I think even if we defined “rich” as “I can retire at some point,” an average CD salary doesn’t pass that test when you take into account that most people achieve it near the end of their career, live in a high cost of living city because agencies are located there, hold it for 5-10 years and age out around 45 with no pension. The majority of Americans are more f***ed, yes, but that does not make us rich.
No. Unless you were already rich to begin with.
man, I wish
No.
But what about inner beauty?
U talkin bout that inner Monaaaay li$$$a
I wish.
Just when you think you’re earning enough, life will throw you another curve ball.
Rich of spirit
because that’s the only airline we can afford?

CD salaries varies deeply, from the size of -gency, location and the kind of structure. CDs don’t make a lot of money when the structure is super layered (CD, GCD, ECD) but again nobody making from 250 to 400k is necessarily poor, specially if there’s dual income.
I think regardless of title/rank/salary, and this is going to sound VERY old school/boring advice but… everyone should save early and invest in the stock market and get an FA when you can afford it (make monthly contribs and $-cost-average the hell out of it, and also max out 401k/pension contribs) $ Formula = Saving+Diversification+Time is the best way to FU money which will give more independence to choose the type of work/job you want to take on
