So far for me, remote shoots are more strenuous mentally.
I was going to say, as an editor, remote sessions are way more stressful for me than in person.
Yes, but you don’t pay travel rates for travel days. They still do the same job, so why why would you pay a different rate?

Directors are paid for their time on set plus all the work that goes into prep—that hasn’t changed. One could argue that remote shoots are even more strenuous, with multiple opinions coming at him/her in a less controlled way than usually happens on set.
Yes same rate, they are still holding that time that could go to directing an in-person shoot and the job isn’t any less demanding
Speaking as one whose done a number of remotes, it’s less physical time, actually more thinking (really do have to figure every contingency in advance because pivoting damn hard) and probably evens out in the end. Personally, I think it’s more like directing live TV — you in the booth. Less satisfying.
