Are firms still looking for 3Ls to start full time in corporate? I know someone who summered at a V10 and wants to switch to one of a few different V10s. How often does this happen? Do the bar expenses, etc complicate things?

Not V10, but my firm is a top 5 PE practice and we're definitely hiring

When I was at a firm, 3Ls interviewed during 2L OCI. They showed up and hung out until a slot opened up or reached out through a friend ahead of time. Clearly that window has passed, so the best way to find out is to ask those few firms.

I'm sure the student has classmates at these firms. Tell them to use that network to get an intro to the recruiters at these firms and express interest as a 3L corporate hire. Or if you have friends/former classmates at these firms, use your network.

1. I’m a pandemic hire at this new agency and I like it enough, but I feel SO detached from all these humans I’ve never interacted with IRL… like, I just don’t give a flying fuck about these team-building zoom calls. :(

2. My boyfriend and I often just go off cam / mute during the more useless meetings and have sex instead. I secretly hope everyone who is muted/cam off in meetings is getting some action.

In my early 30s, single and realizing i barely have friends. Technically i have a bunch of friends all over the country (thanks to me moving around quite a bit) but not where I live so i don't see them as often. I shed a few so called friends post-pandemic who were flakey, some got married and spend most of their time with their families. I have like 2 people to invite for my birthday. Is that natural for 30s to have little friends or do i need to re-evaluate my life?

So if you pass the MPRE with flying colors that allegedly measures “ethical competence” you’re likely not a danger to the public, but if you fail the bar exam that allegedly measures and protects the public from malpractice you’re a danger to the public? I had a big laugh today. 😂

Giving notice next week to someone who went out of her way to recruit and hire me away from my old firm and has been really good to me. She worked for over a year to get me to come over. Now after only 6 months I’m going back to my old firm but in a different (better) group than I was in before. I am dreading the convo and feeling guilty but need to get over it. FWIW I’m 2012 and we are getting crushed with lack of senior people hence more guilt…. Just looking for a little encouragement :)

Some good news after almost 11 months of applying and interviews and lots of rejections finally got an offer! In NYC small firm, ex big law folks, no billable hours, niche practice area, appearance of forwarded thinking firm, remote till who knows when, emphasis on pro bono initiatives and building book of business. The catch salary. Was making around 140k at last firm with 1800 billable. Offer is 85k and revist to bump to around 100k in several months after review (plus discretionary bonus)
