No, there are multiple types of environments, and while some people excel everywhere, there are people who excel in one type and would struggle in another

Not necessarily. I've personally experienced it and have seen it happen numerous times--you can be a high performer in one place and be a complete cultural/role misfit in another place with correspondingly low performance.
Completely agree. I was a high performer for 5 years straight in a prior org. In a phase of my career now where everything feels like an uphill climb. Still perceived as high potential, but struggling to make a mark where I am - due to several reasons beyond my control.
No, not me. I'm usually a high performer, but for some reason consulting has made me want to be an underperformer. I've never felt this way in my life. Long hours for me /= high performance.
Same situation everyone, me too. Please send help anyone. 🙏
I was very much considered a high performer for a couple years on a project. That project was kind of an unusual one and we weeded typical consultants out like crazy. The project ended and I left to a more typical consultant role and immediately wasn’t as high of a performer and after a year or so of that I left to a technical role at a startup that I excel at. So I think the answer is no.
The true high performers always will, because they'll put in the hard work and adapt quickly.

The starting quarterback in Green Bay is out with Covid this week. Let’s bring in Elon Musk to replace him!
Depends if they’re interested, I was considered high performer in an industry job, where I am totally burnt out in public and likely an average performer.
I think the larger question to also ask is if someone will be a high performer through their career. People go through phases and life stages and things shift. It’s important to work for an org where this is a potential match but also managers / orgs that will support you as you move through life. For example people go through divorces and losses and that impacts work. Or someone may need time off for a sabbatical.
It depends
No. Pure and simple

Definitely not
You can't teach a fish to climb a tree.
Yes you can! It’s called evolution. Just give it a few million years!
No.

Nope
Absolutely not. I perform top notch with high stress, high load, and low WLB. Typical pace disinterested me and was a low performer for sure.
