What a leading question. I think itâs personal preference what someone wants to spend their money on. It doesnât affect me and I barely register it. 24M.

Thereâs nothing wrong with the core question, itâs how you worded in. What was wrong with: âwhat do you think of designer brand clothing, worth it or not?â
It only means that person likes luxury clothes and shoes.
You buy one and wear them for a looong time. They arenât meant to be purchased every year.

Tods have always worn out fast. It's just a function of the build if you walk on them.
Deal sleds are strictly for 8 figure size movers only.

Would you prefer if we all wore government issued overalls?

Only a handful of products from these companies can be repaired and brands like Alden/Churchâs offer higher quality for the same or less money.
(If they ever mess with the 1953 Gucci bit loafer, Iâll lose it tho)
Gucci sneakers, yes, but honestly the Gucci loafers are really nice. So I think it depends on the item
I think people have different perspective and priorities.
For me, NO for clothing and shoes. Since they are consumable and can be worn out easily.
I occasionally purchase designer handbags - because I love the art behind the design, and I only consider ones with investment value so I donât âlose moneyâ by buying it. I also take great care of them - for the sake of art. đ

M, 35. For the price, I prefer to purchase from high-end companies but not necessarily name brand designers. I find name brands to be of lesser quality. If Iâm going to spend $500 on a pair of loafers, I want to buy them from a bespoke (Alfred Sargent) or at least dedicated shoe company (Allen Edmonds), not a high end designer whoâs markup is a result of just slapping their logo on it. As for clothes, when it comes to suits, blazers and slacks and itâs not even a debate, custom is actually cheaper than high end designers and it fits perfect. I think casual clothes is where you start to see an advantage in designer stuff because they can be more trendy. However, if Iâm not in business clothing Iâm usually in workout clothes or jeans a tshirt so Iâm not the right person to ask. I do buy high(er) end workout/sport clothes but theyâre not designer (vuori and arcteryx being the preferred).
For women, the fashion changes so fast my wife actually joined a monthly subscription where they send her a bunch of new stuff every month and then she returns it all. I thought that was going to be a disaster but itâs actually worked out really well.
No, Male, 35
I donât really own any designer clothing but do own some designer shoes
M24 - itâs personal preference. My thought process is: if you got the money, spend well and live well.
Gucci sneakers are fine. Each to their own I guess. If you like them and can afford them, then get them. 38M
Yes yes and yes
From my experience, the only ppl buying these âhigh end and hipâ brands are folks that canât actually afford them, but they want to give off the appearance that they can.
Yes. M 30.
I have zero issue with expensive clothes/shoes if it's a decent material, well made, and with a good fit.
Designer brands don't meet that bill anymore, they're more akin to disposal fashion for the ultrarich (or other status seekers) these days.
This. A real high end suit, button up shirt, shoes etc should be understated in my view. The more labels, prints, logos you see, the trashier it is.

No, F 27. If itâs something you like and can afford, treat yourself. Itâs not my place to tell people how to spend their money
I wear nice clothes from my late teens (cashmere sweaters, silk blouses), so no if the price warrants the quality. Buying in my mid 20s (unfortunately spending all my money there) means that I don't really buy clothes anymore now. Have a lifetimes supply of nice clothes, bags, etc. allows me to max my 401k now

Do agree that I wouldn't buy designer clothes now too given massive quality decline. I mainly bought quality classics
