Having a difficult time trying to break into Product management / FAANG corporation. I have a BS/MS engineering with 2.5 YOE in R&D engineering and 1 year in Tech Sales selling commercial products, booking $6million in Y1. I've submitted a bunch of MBA apps to try and use the OCR there to transfer, but would like to pivot without taking $200k in debt if possible. Any advice?
Do you think the effects of the pandemic have passed in terms of jobs? I graduated early from college during the pandemic and despite my year of full time internship experience I still have a hard time getting interviews for roles. If anyone is willing to offer a referral or to chat about their role pls let me know. I would really appreciate it! Looking for entry level marketing associate/specialist roles within tech.
Beginner interning at PwC this summer. Nervous about expectations but planning to get Security+ and messing around w/ other tools. What can I expect and any infoSec intern advice?
Chicago Exp hire in DC: 145k base for SC without MBA; Master from non target school. 5 yrs in consulting? Average?
What would you all say are the best consulting firms to work at in the federal government space? I’m not sure how many “prestigious” firms (like MBB) have a significant federal practice at all.
I need to know if I’ve pigeon-holed myself. I have an undergrad in music business, and got a lot of good experience then. Worked in live events for 4 years before returning to law school, intending to practice in entertainment law (specifically music). Got a summer internship at a boutique entertainment firm, but no offer due to the small market. Moved to a larger market, but I’m not in one of the “hotspots”. I’m in-house currently, and have moved up quickly. (Cont.)
What roles would a generalist tech consultant (3.5 YoE) apply for at a top tech company? I’m not a dev, and mainly have done tech strategy in the analytics space cross industry and PMO work. Have a ugrad and MS in engineering, six sigma certified. I do know python/R as well as tableau but don’t want to be a dev or BI analyst
Anyone that has taken the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification recently, can u talk about the study materials that was most helpful and provide some tips on the test?
Just joined Deloitte in July out of UG, but want to make move to MBB. Is it a good idea to start applying right away or do I need more experience before making the jump?
Been in MBB for about six month, I can’t seem to get use to the 65-70 hr work weeks 😣 even an easy day leaves me exhausted. Anyone else feel this way?
For 2020 Taxes was anyone able to take a Home Office Expense deduction while working W2 for MBB or Big 4?
Hi All, I'm 5+ experienced in IBM DataPower, secondary skills include working on WAS, MQ, Jboss, Tomcat - shell scripting to automate basic stuff. Holds certification in AWS Cloud Practitioner. Our intern comes in 5 days a week and a lot of the time I have nothing for her to do. Any good long term projects she can do during down time?
Hey Fishes, I recently got enrolled in the Deloitte Cloud Institute cohort for AWS Data Analytics. I'm planning on pursuing azure data analytics certification along with it. Will this help me get a data scientist profile! If notz can anyone help me on what should the ideal pathway for me should be? I have around 6yrs exp in testing/automation domain. TIA
Does anyone regularly make requests of the hotel prior to arriving? Curious what someone would ask for
Has anyone ever had a student in their classroom who became very sick part way through the school year? What did you do to show support as a teacher/school community?
I've been on the bench for nearly three months with no work. I've been searching for other jobs and upskill myself with studying for the GMAT. Anyone else? What have you been doing to stay relevant?
Have a quick question around DD capabilities of two strategy firms. Opinion on the strength of the commercial and Tech DD capabilities between OW and EY-Parthenon. Your honest view points on which is stronger?
Just hit 200k base with promotion to Director!
🐠 what’s the better exit opp: Deloitte digital at a manager level or KPMG at a director level? Currently at a manager level with 10+ yrs exp and a Masters. Assuming comp is roughly the same.
There are several children in my classroom who keep having tech issues. How can I support them without taking away from instruction time?
How long did others take to study for the GMAT? If I have 2 concentrated weeks of full-time study (taking vacation) would that be sufficient? Thank you!
Enough with the politics and racist shit, lets ask the real questions. What's everyone's bench, dead lift, back squat totals?
FTM here and I need to get opinions. I’m back at work remote but in desperate need of childcare. With my husband and I working from home…it’s so crazy trying to manage a 6 month old. So the question is…do you think it’s better to have a nanny or daycare. I want my son to be socialized as much as possible…but then COVID. I am also seeing that nannies are umm kinda pricey too for a long term bid. So just trying to see the general consensus
Hello Fishes, Please help me find out a rough estimate of in-hand salary for the below structure. Thanks in advance.
Principals/Directors/MDs/Partners: how do you get out of consulting when you don’t have a client to go to? What types of opportunities are you qualified for at this level? Sales is obvious but I don’t really want to do sales. Looking for opportunities in both tech and industry but not sure what I’m qualified to do / how to go about getting there. As much as I’d like to reveal about my background: I’m a tech focal in AWS/Azure, not industry aligned.
Housing market is pretty good; I'd like to buy a place but wonder if it's ill advised since I haven't paid off all my student debt yet and there are rumblings about an impending recession
My grandparents never make an effort to ask about my life or how things are going. I’ve gotten a promotion, switched roles, etc and they’ve never asked about any new and exciting life events. When I finally do visit them all they can do is comment on my weight or how I look - basically anything they can nitpick about my appearance, and then guilt me for not visiting them more. Am I being dramatic by not wanting to interact with them anymore? Do they get a pass to be rude because they’re old?
Recruiters: for junior roles that disclose compensation up front, is there ANY negotiation after an offer? Have you ever rescinded an offer bc of negotiation?
What’s general turnaround time from final candidate interview to decision / offer? Friend I referred for a SD role has gone through the process (2 Partner interviews, 1 SD interview) with the last interview occurring about two weeks ago. She hasn’t heard anything from HR and HR hasn’t responded to her emails asking on status. Not sure if that’s par for the course or an indication she got dinged.
Hello! I recently came across a junior credit research role at “Income Research + Management” and I was wondering if anyone knows of them? Specifically, I’m interested in their work/life balance policies, career trajectory and benefits. Thanks in advance!
Asking this question here for a reason. In our culture and set up, a majority of the time is spent in cooking. We usually don’t eat microwave meals. I want to understand how Indian families cope up with all the traveling associates with consulting. Does the mother or father usually stay at home or be in a “light” job?
