Are Porsche 911 996 C4S reliable?

As long as you get the IMS fixed

like

EY-P1 is correct though by now I’d be surprised to find one where it hasn’t been done. I would look to take one without the nav- it will date less.

like

Reliable is probably relative here. IMS comments above are correct, but the 996 engine gets a bad rap across the board for quality. While you’ll probably be just fine with the 4S if you want a daily driver, this could impact the resale value of your car in the long run due to the market’s perception of the 996. If you’re looking for an investment, I’d consider the Turbo or GT3 - both of which have the Mezger engine. Sure, they’ll cost a bit more, but right now 996 prices aren’t too ridiculous.

About to give a go at negotiating a price for a used ‘21 Mercedes’ GLE 350 - 7k miles. I know it’s a tough buyers market but any tips on ways to negotiate? Dealer is 100 miles away and priced competitively at $64k but another dealer is 200 miles away and priced at $60k. Features are about the same but the more expensive option has nicer wheels so maybe that’s worth ~$2k. TIA

In a bind. Needing help folks... I’m moving to a high col city and two cars is going to be hard 😫.. I have a 330i touring (for practicality, daily) and a Porsche 993 c4s (fun, weekend.. kills me to sell this car).
Together both are worth 120-140k.

Some cars you dreamed about when you were younger that when you got to the age where you could drive one, you realized, man, I’d rather be in something else! I tried getting to an Aventador a few years ago when my M5 was being serviced and I realized I was too bulky to get in. When I was looking for. Y current daily driver, I thought about leasing an Alfa Romeo, it again, too bulky to get in. I looked into getting a C6 Corvette before, and then realized that driving one would kill my back.

Thinking about buying a used luxury vehicle (BMW 4 series, Jaguar XF, Audi, etc), target $30K-$35K, less than 20K miles, and <3 years old. Any suggestions about target models? I don’t like the idea of buying new because of the premium/immediate depreciation, and leasing feels restrictive. Is this a bad idea?

Buy/lease now or defer to Q1-2023?

My car broke (engine seized, 10y old). I am interested in 530i ($62k price), however 3year lease is $1,000+ monthly (with $5k down). Monthly lesse payment is 50% more than bmw advertised offers (“south FL dealers are not participating in the program”)

Q to car gurus/experts- should I defer purchase/lease for 6 months? My logic, the impending recession will reduce demand and we will go back to more balanced market (lower prices with negotiation).
