Are REIT stocks good to hold for long term dividend benefits (10% of current holdings)? (CONE MNR DLR etc.) 25 y/o want to be more aggressive. Thinking of reducing reit and increasing ETH DCA instead while also picking out some alt coins to mess around with.

You should be aggressive in your 20s, but you still need a portfolio with different asset types in it.

I think REITS and other high dividend stocks make a lot of sense. I have about 10% of my retirement in high dividend stocks that I bought last year. They all have great balance sheets and cash flow, so just let them compound for a long time.

So maybe think about REITS, but also some of the pipeline companies and mineral rights companies. You want diversification here, too, so don’t just do all one type of REIT.

I don’t want to get into details of your portfolio since this is your portfolio. But if you have REITS with different asset types you might be fine. A trio of stocks that cover retail, data centers, and residential could be diversified enough.

My dividend portfolio is 5 stocks: a pipeline company, a minerals rights company, a data center REIT, a network company, and a pharma. I also trade around a pipeline ETF and individual REITS. So you don’t need a large number of high quantity names to manage risk.

I’d steer clear of true alt coins, unless you’re really knowledgeable and tuned in. Tons of garbage cash grabs, this didnt end well pre crypto winter.

That being said if you consider them alt, I’m getting quite into DESO and there are a few utility ones I think are worth while

I’m totally empathetic to people that miss offices and traveling. I understand your reasons why, I truly do.

For me personally, after non-stop weekly travel for 4 straight years, not traveling has made me realize how much I enjoy being home. Spending time with family, sleeping in your own bed, consistent exercise schedule, etc.

I for one hope consulting becomes more of a hybrid travel model (i.e. travel 1-2x per month or as needed). Else it won’t be for me.

Anyways, just some thoughts.

Our company is considering offering 401K employer match. We are about 200 employees venture backed company. We have about 60% participation mostly the non HCEs and only some key employees contribute. We always pass top heavy test and wpassed the 2019 ADP/ACP test. We are aggressively hiring and project there will be increase in participation, particularly if we offer the match. Given this information would it make sense to continue with a traditional 401k plan or go with safe Harbor plan?

Can someone point me to some material where I can read about profit sharing vs 401k. I get the concept, but I am trying to understand is 10% profit sharing vested over 5 years better than an employee 401k match of 6%?

From my understanding 10% PS is better because it’s just a standard 10% on top of whatever I contribute though it takes 5 years to vest. Does this mean if I leave before 5 years I don’t get any of it?

Thoughts on the proposed JetBlue -Spirit Merger?

I used to be a big fan of Jetblue(nyc based), but lately I feel like the airline is just as bad as the low cost ones. Old aircrafts, canceled and delayed flights. I can see why it’s important for JetBlue to have this merger for their relevance in this field.
