Are the hours and flexibility any better at a top 10 firm versus big 4?

Hi Guys, do you recommend moving to Amazon only for the pay? I have heard the hikes later aren't great and the work life balance is typically out of question for most of the roles.

Curious about non-US attorneys: are you working the crazy hour weeks most of us in the US do? Or are your weeks closer to 40 hours? I hear a lot about the working hour caps, vacation requirements, etc in Europe/Canada. Curious if that flows into legal practice... or if it gets ignored. To clarify—I’m talking about BigLaw. I’m sure there are smaller firms with reasonable hours, the same exists in the US.

I’ve had three interviews for an internal position over a period of about 6 weeks The last was over a week ago. And I can’t get the HR rep to even return an email or a TEAMS chat as to a ballpark when a decision may be made. VERY frustrating. Even just a “we will be making a decision soon”. Or whatever would be nice. I feel disrespected.

Got laid off. Have savings to hold me until I find a new position but mostly I'm just embarrassed. Has anyone ever gotten laid off and not told their friends/partner about it? I just don't want people in my circle to know I failed basically.

Has anyone taken a significant pay cut for a new role that was less stress? Making you more rich in life (work life balance, less stress, loved your company, loved your colleagues), but taken a smaller take home salary?
