Are the partners that you interview with during a lateral callback generally the ones you’ll end up working with? There were a few partners I would have liked to interview with but didn’t get to and I wonder if that means they weren’t interested or don’t have a need.

Working Canadian big law. Really burnt out and not enjoying work. Very understaffed and work product is suffering. Partners not hiring new associates, classic toxic work/availability expectations etc etc. have an opportunity to work with a boutique firm, make same amount making now but plus % of billables. Smaller deals and less sophisticated but opportunity to help grow the firm and be more entrepreneurial. Weekends generally protected and lower yearly target. What would you do?

For firms that allow full time arrangements for associates, is comp pro-rated, or less? For example, if you are on an 80% schedule, do you get paid 80% salary for your class year, or less?
